Located just 2-hours drive northwest of San Jose, the little Costa Rican town of La Fortuna rests at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is vernoemd naar een van de drie vulkanen in het reservaat en biedt een bedwelmende mix van glooiende groene heuvels, stromende watervallen en weelderig wolkenbos. Het park trekt het hele jaar door reizigers aan die zijn vulkanen, warmwaterbronnen en talrijke prachtige watervallen komen verkennen. Rincon de la Vieja betekent “The Old Woman's Corner” en is vernoemd naar een lokale legende, die vertelt over de minnaar van een meisje die door haar vader in de vulkaan werd gegooid. Er wordt gezegd dat de vrouw een kluizenaar werd en helende krachten ontwikkelde, die haar dagen leefde op de hellingen van Rincon de la Vieja.
Het kleine dorpje Samara ligt aan de schilderachtige Pacifische kust van Costa Rica in de provincie Guanacaste en staat bekend om zijn met palmbomen omzoomde gouden zandstrand en kristallijn turquoise water.
