The Pantanal Norte, located south of the capital Cuiabá, is composed of floodplains that host alligators, capybaras, tapirs and various species of birds, including the famous Tuiuiú, bird symbol of the region. The main destinations are the Barão de Melgaço, which has savannas, Poconé and Cáceres, which have difficult access areas due to the long months of flooding.
