Situated on a wild peninsula in southern Alaska, the Katmai National Park is known for its abundant wildlife, unspoilt landscapes, lakes, forests and mountains. This pristine park is famed as one of the best brown bear viewing areas in the world. It is inhabited by over 2000 brown bears who flock to the iconic salmon-abundant Brooks Falls. Visitors can enjoy excellent views from lookout platforms at Brooks Camp. Katmai National Park is also home to the spectacular Alagnak Wild River and Naknek Lake, which is popular with sports anglers as it is inhabited by five species of Pacific Salmon. Don’t miss the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, an impressive volcanic area featuring a valley scattered with thousands of steam vents. Other popular activities include: hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting.
