Bettles

Days 1 - 8

Bettles, a town in Yukon-Koyukuk, Alaska, boasts a wonderful combination of natural and heritage attractions. Resting in the foothills of the magnificent Brooks Mountain Range and on the banks of the beautiful Koyukuk River, the town provides the perfect place for hiking and activities on the water (visitors can look forward to excellent fishing, canoeing, and rafting). The Northern Lights are visible from here, and there are several wonderful guided outdoor excursions on offer. The town is steeped in history, as it was once the home of native people and then a gold rush town (from 1899). From here, travel easily to the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, the Noatak National Preserve, and the Kobuk Valley National Park.
