Upon arrival, we check in at our cozy mountain inn, surrounded by fresh air and stunning natural beauty. After some time to settle in, we prepare for our first mountain bike ride in this new environment—an exciting introduction to the rugged landscapes and cooler climate that define this part of the journey.

Transfer to the Serra Catarinense region
Today we fully embrace the rugged beauty of the Serra Catarinense with an unforgettable mountain biking experience. Our ride begins at the spectacular Mirante da Serra, where sweeping views over valleys and cliffs set the tone for the day ahead.
From here, we follow a scenic and challenging route toward Guatá, descending and flowing through dramatic mountain landscapes until reaching the local police station—a unique and remote landmark marking our turnaround point. Today is one of the most demanding—and rewarding—rides of the expedition. We set out on a route rarely explored by cyclists, deep in the heart of the Serra Catarinense, heading toward the iconic Abrigo 1500.
The challenge is real: the route features a steady and sustained climb, with most of the elevation gain concentrated in the first half of the ride. Patience and rhythm are key as we make our way upward, surrounded by pristine mountain landscapes and a true sense of isolation. The reward comes not only at the top, but also on the return—where long, flowing descents make every effort worthwhile.
Along the way, we stop at the beautiful Rio dos Bugres Waterfall, a perfect place to refresh and take in the natural surroundings.
Reaching Abrigo 1500 is a special moment. At the summit, it’s tradition to celebrate with the famous local pine nut pastry (not included), a simple yet authentic taste of the region.
