Expert tips

If you wish to do activities  our guide can take  you to the village office where you can arrange and pay direct for these activities. For USD 20.00 per person, you get to do 2 activities (i.e., Lake Shore Walk & Walks to the waterfall) for another USD 10.00 per person you get to visit to the Lake Natron Hominid Footprints. This includes guide fees.

Guides traditionally work on the expectation that there will be a tip directly from guests in addition to the contract payments for their labour.

We believe that tipping should be regarded as a discretionary matter and a thank you for good service. If, however guests feel that a tip is not warranted, they should inform the guide in a polite and constructive manner why they feel he does not deserve to be tipped.

For the more adventurous, you may wish to climb Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai. This can also be arranged through the village office.

The climb typically begins at midnight (departing camp around 11:00 pm). Trekkers usually reach the summit at approximately 6:00 am, with a return to camp around 11:00 am.
