Day 1: Liwonde National Park, Malawi

Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival in Lilongwe it is now time to drive to Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park.

Mvuu Camp overlooks a broad stretch of the Shire River (pronounced ‘Shiree’), with a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife of the Liwonde National Park. An impressive thatched dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent vista of the Shire River. Dinners are sometimes held under the stars in a specially constructed boma. Activities at Mvuu Camp revolve around boating trips on the Shire River and game drives (morning and afternoon/evening). Nature walks and bike rides are also incredibly popular.

You will check in and will have a little time to get settled before your afternoon game drive.

Day 2: Liwonde National Park, Malawi

The course begins! Today the following two lectures will take place after the morning game drive and before your afternoon game drive so that you can spend some time putting what you learnt into practice with Robin by your side to guide you.:

1. Beginners Secrets to Photography
This course covers the most vital and basic elements of digital photography. You will learn a variety of important aspects including what Shutter, Aperture and ISO mean and what their functions are, how to achieve an accurate exposure using the Lightmeter, and a few secrets on how to achieve great photographs without over complicating your photographic experience.

2. Accurate Exposures and the Living Light
This course follows on from the Beginners Secrets to Photography course and further explores the world of achieving more accurate exposures through a deeper understanding of Light and the effects of Shutter, Aperture and ISO in Manual Mode. We also look at understanding contrast, choosing different light settings on your digital camera, and selecting your exposure more accurately using the Lightmeter.

Day 3: Liwonde National Park, Malawi

Today you will have another lecture after your morning game drive.

3. The Nature of Composition
This course looks at several of the most common compositional rules in photography. No cameras needed, this course is pure theory and will change the way you read your next photographic moment.

You will then go on your drive, have lunch and have plenty of time to relax back at camp before your afternoon drive!

Day 4: Lilongwe, Malawi

Back to Lilongwe today and you will be staying a night at Kumbali Country Lodge for some rest and relaxation before heading to Zambia. Why not roam around their beautiful gardens and test out what you have learnt so far!

Kumbali Country Lodge boasts everything you could expect from a country lodge and much more.  Plump pillows and refined decor await you. Should you require anything our Room Service will deliver it straight up, allowing you time for rest and relaxation.

Instead of the concrete jungle, you can gaze out at the natural gardens and bush surrounding the lodge, sipping on a gin and tonic whilst watching the African sun set in the distance.
