Expert tips

  • Be prepared for the conditions. Seal snorkeling is a year-round activity, but the water conditions can vary depending on the time of year. Be sure to dress appropriately and be aware of the current conditions before you go.
  • Be respectful of the seals. Seals are wild animals, so it is important to be respectful of their space. Do not touch or feed the seals, and do not get too close.
  • Enter the water quietly. Seals are easily spooked, so try to make as little noise as possible when you enter the water.
  • Float on the surface of the water. Seals are most curious about things that are at their level.
  • Be patient. It may take some time for the seals to approach you.
  • Don't chase the seals. If a seal swims away from you, let it go.
  • If a seal gets too close, back away slowly.
  • Enjoy the experience! Seal snorkeling is an amazing experience that you will never forget. Relax and enjoy the opportunity to swim with these beautiful creatures.
