Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town International Airport. You will be met upon arrival for transfer to the Cape Grace.

Check into your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

You will enjoy a glass of wine with Shaun at the Bascule Bar to do a formal talk on the journey ahead. Should the arrival time be too late then we will move this over to the next day with your touring.

Day 2: Cape Town

You will be treated to a day of sights, sounds and tastes that will not inspire but change the way you think about Africa. You will enjoy a morning at leisure with a late start to the day. We start the day with some coffee at Truth Coffee, one of the coolest coffee shops in the city.

We will continue onto exploring the city center and see how this cosmopolitan city with it ever changing face. You will have a walk down town and see the Parliament, Company Gardens, St George’s Cathedral before heading for Table Mountain. We ascend the mountain via the Cable Way and enjoy a walk on top of the mountain to experience some of the best views of the city and the Peninsula.

We will continue onto the Camps Bay area for an amazing late lunch overlooking the ocean. We will continue to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for a nice walk around and some time at leisure before returning to the hotel.

Day 3: Cape Town

You will head off after breakfast for the Cape of Good Hope where you will have time to enjoy this beautiful part of the Peninsula with amazing empty white sandy beaches mixed with a rocky coastline. You will visit the Cape of Good Hope and hopefully we will be able to spot a few of the animal species on offer in the park which includes ostrich, baboons, bontebok, eland and even the Cape Mountain Zebra. You will continue onto the town of Simon’s Town where you will visit the famous Boulders Beach with its African Penguin Colony before stopping at The Flagship for lunch. The Flagship with Chef Duncan at the helm offers an amazing lunch with an amazing setting. Chef Duncan will cook up a storm in his culinary home and you will be served an amazing 5 course menu based mainly on seafood with wine.

You will return to Cape Town via Chapman’s Peak drive and see the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean. Arrive back at the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 4: Cape Town

You will enjoy the day at leisure.

We recommend that you head over to the Old Biscuit Mill’s Neighbourgoods Market for a wonderful brunch and walk around. The market has an array of different stalls where they prepare tasty eating options …. It is not a bad thing to enjoy Sparkling Wine with your brunch. There are some really cute decorating, African art shops and boutiques.

Enjoy the remainder of the day to explore the city, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or even sit around one of the street cafes in Camps Bay and enjoy the majestic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 5: Hermanus

You will be collected mid-morning at the hotel and depart Cape Town with destination, the town of Hermanus situated on the Walker Bay Coast. The journey will be along a windy coastal road on the edge of the False Bay. We will pick a romantic spot about an hour and a bit into our trip for picnic on the beach. Enjoy a fine picnic spread accompanied by some beautiful wine whilst taking in the views of the ocean. Continue onto Betty’s Bay where you will see a unique African Penguin Colony and have ample opportunity to take photographs of these small animals. We will continue our tasting experience with a visit to Creation Wine Estate in the Hemel and Aarde Valley where you will enjoy an amazing wine & pairing tasting experience.

You will continue onto the town of Hermanus where you will head for The Birkenhead House, your home for the next two nights.

Check into your accommodation and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure with some sunset drinks enjoyed overlooking the ocean followed by dinner.

Day 6: Hermanus

You will enjoy breakfast at the hotel after which you will be collected by your guide and taken to the town of Gans Bay where you will head for Klein Baai. The small harbour will be the meeting point for your Great White Cage Dive Experience which will be a group boat activity out to explore part of the Walker Bay and see if you can get face-to-face with the amazing Great White Shark. The boat will search the best spot to drop anchor and start the process of getting ready by lowering the cage into the water and attaching it to the side of the boat. You will be given your wetsuit and gear to enter chance to go into the cage and see these animals from close range. The sightings from the boat are just as good as the sharks will breach from time to time when approaching the boat.

Shark Alley is the small stretch of water between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock and you might have the possibility of seeing interaction between the seals and sharks as this is the area that many National Geographic documentaries have been filmed. It is not the ideal time of year but you might have the possibility of seeing dolphins and some of the smaller whale species such as Bryde’s Whales.

You will return back to mainland and head off afterwards to the town of Stanford from where you will head to a small protea (flower) farm where you will meet Evan Austin, the pilot that will take you on a light aircraft flight (only based on a maximum of three persons travelling) along the coastline towards the southernmost tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas. The flight will enable you to view the beautiful historic light house and return along the beach to try and spot any marine life from the air. You will also view the bushmen fish traps made from rocks packed in the shallow waters of the coastline dating back many hundreds of years which was used passed down from generation to generation. You will pass over the shark cage diving boats to try and sneak a peak of the Great White Sharks. Sometimes other marine life can be spotted such as dolphins, seals and whales (Brydes or Humpack Whales – it will not be Southern Right Whale Season). The flight will have a duration of just over an hour which will give you ample opportunities to take photos whilst still enjoying the amazing scenery from the air.

Once back on ground you will head back to Birkenhead House to enjoy some time at leisure at this amazing establishment.

Dinner will be served at the hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 7: Franschhoek

You will enjoy the morning at leisure or partake in an early morning Kayak trip in the Walker Bay from the Old Harbour. You will languidly row along the rugged coastline in search of marine life in the bay. You might view Cape Fur Seals, Dolphins, view an array of marine birds and even see the odd stray whale (although it is already past the season).

Check out of the hotel and depart for the Franschhoek Valley. You will continue along the Houw Hoek Pass and onto the apple growing area of Elgin and Grabouw from where you will head along the mountains and along the Theewaterskloof Dam and then over the Franschhoek pass and into the valley. You will stop at Haute Cabriere for a light lunch (cost not included) and a sparkling wine tasting. The cellar is well known for its master Cap Classiques (South African Sparkling Wines) and the Pinot Noir and white are also something to enjoy.

Continue onto the centre of the picturesque town of Franschhoek which is the remains of the French heritage dating back to the arrival of the Huguenots.

You will end your day at La Residence which will be your home for the next two days. Check into your accommodation and have some time at leisure to enjoy your room and the facilities of the hotel.

You will join downstairs for some sundowners before heading for dinner at The Grande Provence or similar – cost of the dinner is not included in the cost. Return to the hotel afterward dinner.

Day 8: Franschhoek

You will set off for the town of Stellenbosch where you will enjoy a walk through the town with its history, architecture and even have some time to peek into one of the many local shops of the oldest town in South Africa. You will continue onto the Waterford Wine Estate where you will enjoy a safari wine drive, one of the unique ways of getting closer to nature, experiencing the terroir whilst tasting some of their amazing wines – on a clear day you can view Table Mountain from the vineyard.

Continue onto Delaire Graff where you will enjoy lunch (not included in the cost) and the possibility of another wine tasting whilst taking in some of the most idyllic views from a wine estate.

You will head to Franschhoek where you will have the opportunity to either enjoy some time at leisure or even finish the day with another wine tasting (should time permit). Your final destination of the day will be La Residence, a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting.

Enjoy the evening dinner at the hotel or at one of the good restaurants of the town such as Foliage. Cost of the dinner not included in the cost.

Day 9: Franschhoek

Enjoy the day at leisure at La Residence in Franschhoek where you will be able to relax and laze around the swimming pool, enjoy the facilities on offer or explore the town with its small shops, boutiques, street-side cafés and art galleries.

Special Arrangement: We will reserve a table for dinner at The Tasting Room at the Le Quartier Francais. The dinner will be an amazing tasting affair with true South African ingredients cooking in an international style. (Cost of the dinner not included).

Day 10: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

You will depart after an early breakfast for the Cape Town International Airport for your scheduled flight to the Greater Kruger area.

You will be met at the Eastgate Airport for transfer to Makanyi Safari Lodge situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve. Check into your accommodation upon arrival and enjoy some time at leisure before setting off on your first safari game drive in open sided 4x4 vehicle.

Return to the lodge where you will have time to refresh before dinner.

Day 11: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Enjoy the day at leisure with morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles in search of the African Big 5. The safari drives will be conducted by an experienced ranger and tracker team. You will have the possibility of viewing buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhinoceros, zebra, giraffe, a wide variety of antelope species and so much more.

You will also have the possibility of enjoying a bush walk accompanied by an armed ranger. The walk enables you to learn more about the smaller things in the bush such as tracks, plants, and even have the possibility of viewing animals in a controlled environment.

Day 14: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Enjoy your morning game drive followed by breakfast back at the lodge. You will have some time to relax before setting off by helicopter on a scenic flight over the bushveld and then onto the Blyde River Canyon, the 3rd largest canyon in the world and the largest green canyon in the world.

This is an exhilarating flight that swoops over deep and mysterious gorges, through lush valleys bursting with vegetation and color. You will linger above cascading waterfalls, allowing for spectacular photographic opportunities.

The flight will continue along the escarpment to God’s Window, which offers awesome panoramic views of the bushveld below and on to the fascinating and dramatic rock formations of the 1 000-metre-deep, 30-kilometre-long Blyde River Canyon. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the curious Three Rondavels.

The helicopter will land at the ultimate picnic site where you will enjoy some snacks, South African sparkling wine and refreshments whilst whilst soaking up the endless vistas of the Mpumalanga Lowveld.

You will land near Singita Boulders Lodge situated in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Your guide will collect you for transfer to the lodge where you will check you’re your accommodation.

Enjoy a hearty lunch and some time to relax before setting off on your first game drive at Singita in the Sabi Sands. You will return to the lodge to refresh, followed by dinner.

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is well known for its high density of predators and apart from the general African animals on offer for sighting, you will experience a high number of lions and leopards in the area.

Day 17: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Enjoy the morning at leisure with an amazing breakfast. Your luggage will be collected and transferred by road to the outgoing airport. You will depart with your guide from the lodge to the Singita airstrip for a scheduled light aircraft flight to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, Nelspruit. You will be met by your luggage driver upon arrival and proceed with your check in for your onwards flight.

Depart on a scheduled flight to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, Livingstone. You will be met upon arrival for private transfer to Tongabezi Lodge situated on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Check into your accommodation and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. You will have lunch out on the main deck overlooking the Zambezi River. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent at leisure at the lodge.

Dinner will be enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 18: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

You will depart the morning after breakfast for the Victoria Falls where you will meet up with a specialist guide that will give you an insight into the history of David Livingstone as he arrived into this area. This tour begins with the story of the Victoria Missionary and Explorer David Livingstone. Explore not only the greatest waterfall on earth, but its place in history from the earliest residents to the first European Visitor, the building of the bridge and the many colourful characters that passed this way in time. This is a fascinating slice of Africa’s story that will leave you with a deeper understanding of the continents, Past, Present and Future set against the backdrop of the one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

You will stop in at the Royal Livingstone Hotel from where you will set off from next to the deck area by boat for a visit to the Livingstone Island. The island is situated in the middle of the Falls and you will be able to experience first-hand how David Livingstone arrived onto the small island and how her discovered the Victoria Falls for the first time. You will enjoy lunch on the island and also have the possibility of swimming in the Devil’s Pool, a small natural swimming pool in the middle of the Falls (should water levels be acceptable).

Return to mainland and continue onto the helipad from where you will depart on a helicopter flight to enjoy a “birds-eye-view” of the Falls and the myriad of channels between the island in the main river. The Zambezi River will be in full flow and the spectacle of the mist of Mosi-oa-Tunya (local name for the Falls meaning “the smoke that thunders”) will tower almost 1000 feet into the air above the Falls. The flight will be a duration of around 12-15 minutes and allow for good photographic opportunities.

Return back to the lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

You will be picked up at the lodge for transfer to Livingstone Town where you board the Royal Livingstone Express Steam Train for a dinner experience on the train. This steam train dinner experience will take back to the bygone era of luxurious steam train travel. You will enjoy snacks and welcome drink upon arrival as the train departs for its ride out of Livingstone Town and see the scenery change as you move to your end destination. A five course dinner will be served on the train before you head back to town and return to Tongabezi Lodge again.

Day 19: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Enjoy the morning at leisure or partake in a last activity offered by the lodge or even just pop in and Enjoy the day at Tongabezi Lodge with morning canoeing down the Zambezi River with your guide to explore this amazing river system.

You will return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast after which you can have some time to relax or partake in another activity.

Set off the afternoon to one of the small islands in the river and enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the Zambezi River. Return to the lodge and get some rest at the lodge.

Depart on an afternoon boat ride on the Zambezi River at sunset enjoying a sundowner drink. You will be able to see elephant, hippopotamus, crocodiles, a variety of antelope and bird species.

Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Overnight: Tongabezi Lodge

Day 20: End of Itinerary

Enjoy the morning at leisure, partake in a last activity or visit the Tongabezi School Trust project just next to the lodge. This project assists the children in getting a good base education. A real good cause!!!!

You will be transferred to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, Livingstone.

Depart on scheduled flight to OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.

Connect upon arrival with scheduled flight to the USA.
