Upon landing in Cape Town, collect your rental car at the airport and then head off to your hotel in the heart of Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront. This will be your home for the next 3 nights as you explore this beautiful city.

Get out your maps and take a drive down the Cape Peninsula, all the way to Cape Point. On the way, you will drive over the most beautiful road in Africa, Chapman's Peak. On the way back from Cape Point, make sure you stop off in Simonstown to see the penguins on Boulder's Beach. If you are into nature, you can also stop at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.



Free day to explore the Cape Peninsula
After breakfast, leave Cape Town and make your way to the charming seaside town of Hermanus, known as one of the best whale-watching places in the world. From here, you can even watch whales from shore. Whale season is typically from June - November. But also outside of whale season, Hermanus has a lot to offer, with its stunning scenery, which can be taken in on beautiful coastal walks; its rich history, and vibrant culture.

After breakfast, leave Cape Town and make your way to the stunningly beautiful landscapes of the Cape Winelands. You will stay at Babylonstoren, which is a working wine farm. You can do wine tasting there or head into the town of Franschhoek to do more wine tasting at other farms.

Don't leave too late, because the drive along the scenic route R62 through the Little Karoo will take about 5 hours. The destination today is Oudtshoorn, which is known for its ostrich farms and the famous Cango Caves. If you arrive early enough, you can still visit both this afternoon, if not, you can visit one in the morning, on your way to Knysna.

Afternoon
Head over the Outeniqua Mountain Pass to the incredibly scenic town of Knysna. Your guest house, Kanonkop, is situated in a prime location, perched on a hill overlooking the Knysna lagoon and the Heads. Visit The Heads, or the Knysna Quays, where you can do a cruise on the lagoon.

There is much to enjoy in the area surrounding Knysna. A trip to Tsitsikamma is highly recommended, with a stop off to marvel at the Bloukrans Bungee, formerly the highest in the world. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing on the beach at Plettenberg Bay or visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve.



It is your last day in South Africa. Drive to George and enjoy the rest of this lovely coastal route, before you drop-off your car and fly home. If you are not ready to go home yet, ask about a safari extension to one of the fabulous Eastern Cape Game Reserves.
