Share:

Day 1: Arusha

  • Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, a guide will greet you with a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, refreshing bottled water, and a cool towel. You can expect a transfer time of approximately 35 minutes to Rivertrees Lodge, during which you can chat with your driver about the surrounding areas.
  • If you arrive early enough, you can relax beside the pool with a good book or enjoy a massage to alleviate post-flight tension.
  • The lodge offer a range of local and international cuisine to cater to all tastes, ensuring you have a satisfying dinner before retiring for a restful sleep.

Days 2 - 3: Ngorongoro Crater

  • After breakfast, you will be met by your driver-guide.
  • The driving safari will pass through the small town of Mto wa Mbu, where you’ll see bicycles laden with large hands of bananas.
  • A game drive through Lake Manyara National Park offers an immediate immersion into the bush and wildlife of Tanzania. A large alkaline lake lies in the park’s centre. It attracts a variety of birdlife throughout the year, including massive flocks of greater and lesser pink flamingo between November and April, as well as pelican, stork, heron and plentiful hippo in the waters. Scan the forest for lion, elephant, giraffe and more as you travel through the park.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch in the shade before continuing your journey towards Ngorongoro.
  • From here, the road begins to climb, and the elevation changes as you ascend the steep walls of the Great Rift Valley through Karatu and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The steep road ascends the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater through a lush and dense forest until you arrive on the crater rim road with a spectacular view of the crater. Stop here for photographs and the opportunity to stretch the legs.
  • Heading in a clockwise direction around the crater rim, make your way almost to the opposite side and into the welcoming space of Entamanu Camp.
  • Today a full day is set aside to explore the area. You’re up early to be among the first vehicles on the crater floor.
  • You’ll depart from camp when it’s cold and dark, bundled under warm jackets and Maasai blankets. However, the cold will soon be forgotten as you go down the inner walls of the unbroken caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. Once on the crater floor, you can have coffee and some breakfast snacks to keep you going through the morning while enjoying the game drive experience in this unique location.
  • Seek out the resident wildlife which includes black rhino, leopard, lion, and buffalo.
  • You can have a picnic lunch next to the hippo pool, where grunting rafts of hippos will keep you company while you refuel.
  • By mid-afternoon, it’s time to start the journey up the caldera walls to the rim and return to camp to freshen up, enjoy a drink in the bar and share all your exciting safari stories from the day with fellow adventurers before dinner.

Days 4 - 6: Central Serengeti

  • The drive from the crater rim down to the open short grass plains of Ngorongoro and the Serengeti is a beautiful introduction to the “southern plains”.
  • This is a full day’s drive, with plenty of stops for drinks and a picnic lunch in a shady spot. Once within the park, the drive will take approximately two and a half hours to reach Dunia Camp, but it depends on how much wildlife you see on your journey.
  • Once you arrive at the camp in the mid-afternoon, you will have time to relax, freshen up, and take in your new surroundings.
  • A sumptuous dinner in camp will bring the day to a close. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the surrounding bush from the warmth and comfort of your bed.
  • The next full day here, your guide and private vehicle offer you the flexibility to structure your game drives however you choose. Head out at sunrise with coffee and a packed breakfast to make the most of the morning, perhaps exploring the nearby Moru Kopjes, before returning to the camp for lunch. Or include a picnic lunch and spend the whole day immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the Serengeti.
  • For a different perspective of the landscape, book a hot air balloon safari and take to the skies for a unique and genuinely memorable sunrise experience.

Days 7 - 9: Zanzibar

  • Once you have enjoyed your final breakfast in camp, head to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. The plane may stop at various airstrips to pick up and drop off passengers, but you will eventually arrive in the early afternoon. The camp will provide you with a packed lunch for the journey.
  • Upon arrival, a driver will meet you for your private transfer to the lodge of your choice. Take time to relax, unwind and enjoy the rhythm of island life at your own pace.
  • At Breezes, there is a wide range of activities to enjoy on Zanzibar Island. Explore the underwater world at the dive centre and learn about the local culture with a Swahili cooking class or palm weaving on the beach. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out different water sports such as snorkelling or kite surfing.
  • A romantic lunch on your private sandbank, “Infinity Island,” is an essential experience for couples. You can also take a fascinating and informative walking tour of Stone Town to admire the intricately carved ancient doors and explore the narrow pathways through the melting pot of architectural influences.
  • There’s something for everyone on this beautiful island, so go ahead and immerse yourself in all that Zanzibar has to offer.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

  • A driver and private vehicle will transport you from your hotel to Zanzibar International Airport for your onward travel.
