Day 1: Sengkang

Arrival Makassar – Hotel Makassar

Upon arrival Makassar, you will be transferred to your hotel in Sengkang. Sengkang is a small and quiet town with a population that is almost 100% Islamic Bugis who dominantly live in traditional wooden pile dwellings.

Day 2: Tana Toraja

Sengkang – Tempe Lake Boat Tour, Transfer to Toraja

Morning depart from your hotel to have boat tour. From a small pier where you board a traditional colorful motorized canoe. The canoe trip will take you through the small Walennea River to the Tempe Lake, a lake that covers an area of at least 1.000 ha in the dry season and expands to around 35.000 ha during the wet season when all surrounding areas are flooded. On the lake, you can observe the local fishermen catch fish in different ways using nets, fishing roads and bamboo fences. More than 20 species of water birds can be seen at this lake. Some of the fishermen live in floating houses near the edge of the lake. You will visit a floating house to drink tea and coffee together with its inhabitants.
Continue depart to Rantepao, a town and capital of North Toraja Regency which is known for the cultural center of Toraja ethnic group.

Day 3: Tana Toraja

Toraja, Excursion Rock Graves/Tree Graves and Saddle Houses (Culture Tour)

Today you will have a full day exploring Toraja. First, you will visit Lemo to see rows of Tau Tau statues and the hanging graves. Onwards to Suaya to discover the secret of the Baby Tree, Also visiting today Londa, to see and ancient grave where the deceased are entombed. At Kete Kesu one of the oldest Torajan villages we can see Tongkonan and the old rice barns, also famous for its traditional colorful woodcarving.

Day 4: Tana Toraja

Toraja Village Walk Excursion

In the morning a full day discovery trekking tour of Toraja, first you will be transferred to Kandora village where your trekking trip be started. Passing through Palipu village then onwards to Suaya and Tampangallo. Stop in Buntu Lobo to see the children performing music bamboo orchestra and traditional dance of Toraja. Lunch in the village. Afterwards visiting Kambira village where you can see the baby grave in the tree. In the afternoon, return to your hotel.

Day 5: Makassar

Toraja – Makassar

Depart from Rantepao to Makassar. The city has a rich historical past. It was an important hub for the spice trade that ran between the Spice Islands of Indonesia and India, China and Europe. The Dutch-built Fort of Rotterdam (Benteng Ujung Pandang) in the centre of Makassar is a well-preserved reminder of that fascinating past.

Day 6: End of Itinerary

Makassar – Departure

Today is the end of the trip. At appropriate time, you will be transferred from your hotel in Makassar to an Airport for flight to your next destination.
