Day 12: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Today you also have a choice of activities. (Plus we can swap out these activities for a number of others if you have something specific in mind)

Option 1: White water rafting

Enjoy a full day on the river, rafting with an experienced guide through some of the most exciting rapids in the world, and then drifting between rapids through breathtaking gorge scenery. White Water Rafting on the Zambezi river is divided into ‘high water’ and ‘low water’ seasons. The rapids on the Zambezi River are officially defined as ‘Grade 5’ by the British Canoe Union (Grade 6 being commercially unrunnable). Guests should be reasonably fit for this activity, as there is a fairly steep walk into and out of the Batoka Gorge as well as the White Water Rafting activity itself.

Option 2: Full day tour to Chobe National Park

The Chobe National Park in Botswana is only a 1½ hours drive from Victoria Falls. Chobe is one of the greatest game reserves in southern Africa and home to the largest elephant population in the world. The Chobe River flows lazily through the Caprivi flood plains and provides a haven for huge herds of buffalo and elephant, zebra, wildebeest and impala. These are followed closely by predators including lion, hyena, the elusive leopard and the odd pack of the now rare wild dog.

Your Chobe safari starts with a morning game viewing cruise on the Chobe River with tea, coffee, drinks and light snacks served on board. Lunch is served at Chobe Safari Lodge which overlooks the Chobe River and the plains beyond. In the afternoon, open safari vehicles are used for a game drive into the Chobe National Park, with a chance of spotting lion and buffalo as well as numerous plains game species. Later you return through the border post and arrive back in Victoria Falls in the late afternoon.
