Day 3: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

After your early morning encounter with a wide variety of animals and birds roaming freely in their natural habitat, return to the lodge for a scrumptious breakfast.

Below optional experiences are available at the lodge.

  • Treehouse Experiences - The million-star Chalkley and Kingston are the ultimate bush bedrooms where romantics, adventurers and solitude seekers alike can discover the magic of a night out in the African bush in complete luxury. Arrive at sunset to a picnic dinner, spend the dusk hours watching animals wander past (at a safe distance) and fall asleep counting shooting stars. Rest easy knowing a field guide is always on radio call should you feel you need assistance.
  • Stargazing - During evening game drives or bush dinners (weather permitting), the field guides will share insights into the skies. The clear air and minimal light pollution of this remote African wilderness makes it an ideal location for stargazing. See planets and stars you have never before noticed with the naked eye. The guides will point out the constellations that shift seasonally and those that are unique to the southern hemisphere (circumpolar constellations), taking you on an astral safari.
  • Spa & Wellness - The hours between safaris are an ideal time to spend being pampered. Rejuvenate your body, quiet your mind and revitalize your spirit with a spa treatment. A selection of indulgent therapies are offered by expert therapists in the quiet retreat of the lodges’ spas or open-air bush salas, a luxury unique to Africa. Choose from massages, exfoliations, reflexology and facials with Africology skincare products and essential oils all ethically formulated with the finest natural and organic ingredients as well as manicures and pedicures. Yogis will find no better place to stretch out any leftover tension than on their private decks overlooking the Sabie River, where the energy flows pure.
  • Community Outreach - Lion Sands together with More Community Trust assists the local Huntington as well as Justicia B villages and you can get involved too. Take a community tour, the proceeds of which go to development projects here or roll up your sleeves to help out through the Get Your Hands Dirty initiatives. These centre on education, infrastructure, health as well as environment and you can choose the area best suited to your skills and interest. These are extraordinary social experiences that bring you to the heart of Southern Africa to make your own and others’ dreams come true.
