Day 1: Napo Province

Welcome to Kuyana Amazon Lodge, your gateway to the Ecuadorian rainforest. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a traditional native drink and a short introduction to the lodge, setting the tone for the unique experience ahead.

In the afternoon, set out on a guided exploration along the Guitarracocha Trail, a path inspired by local legends that tell of mysterious guitar-like sounds resonating through the jungle at night. The trail continues across Kuyana Island, leading you to the Kuyana Viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy beautiful views over the Hollín River, one of the region’s most important waterways.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours)

Return to the lodge to unwind and enjoy a carefully crafted three-course dinner, highlighting fresh Amazonian ingredients and local flavors — the perfect way to end your first day immersed in nature.

Wake to the natural melody of the rainforest and join your naturalist guide for a gentle birdwatching walk, where parrots, kingfishers, and caciques bring color and sound to the forest canopy.

(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)

After breakfast, continue with a guided hike to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, one of Kuyana’s signature trails. A short section involves light climbing, adding a subtle sense of adventure.

(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours)

Back at the lodge, enjoy lunch before taking part in a traditional Amazon cooking class. Learn to prepare dishes such as maito and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using native cacao — an immersion into Amazonian flavors and culture.

Day 3: Napo Province

After breakfast, embark on the Amazon Safari Experience, one of Kuyana’s most memorable adventures. Begin with a quiet journey in a non-motorized canoe across a lagoon, where birds, butterflies, and monkeys often reveal the pulse of the jungle. Continue along the Napo River, the main artery of the Ecuadorian Amazon, aboard a motorized canoe until reaching a Quechua community.

You will be welcomed with traditional music and dance and invited to share in local customs, art, and daily life. This encounter offers a meaningful connection with the human heart of the rainforest, where culture and nature coexist in harmony.

(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 6 hours)

As night falls, join a guided night walk through the forest. Step quietly along the trails as the jungle transforms after dark, revealing a world alive with sound, movement, and nocturnal life.
