Very early start (before sunrise), for your full-day safari in Kruger National Park. During this Kruger Park day tour, you will have the opportunity to experience a small area of this vast reserve which covers almost 2 million hectares of unspoilt terrain . The Southern half consists of small hills and rocky outcrops dominated by Knob thorn, Marula and Bush Willow Trees while the Northern side is sparser, arid and Mopani bush predominates. The openness of the game drive vehicle allows you to sense these aromas. While in search of the elusive leopard, we spent time at waterholes, lookout points and stop at picnic spots, at regular intervals to enjoy meals and refreshments. We maycome across buffalo crossing the road or a herd of elephant browsing. Sit back and relax while a experienced guide shares his extensive knowledge of the surroundings. The park is unrivalled in its diversity of flora and fauna – 2000 different forms of vegetation sustain an unmatched richness of wildlife: 146 species of mammals, over 490 different kinds of birds, 114 species of reptiles, 49 kinds of freshwater fish, 33 species of amphibians and innumerable insects and other forms of life – many of them found nowhere else. Blankets are supplied during the winter season and ponchos on the rainy days. Return early evening back to your hotel. Dinner is included in your rate.
Today - a full-day tour of the scenic "Panorama Route": Winding our way through the largest pine and eucalyptus forest in Africa, we travel towards God’s Window where the escarpment abruptly plunges 1000 meters down to the Lowveld. This day includes visits to various scenic lookout points, waterfalls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes – surreal rock sculptures formed as a result of water erosion over thousands of years, and unquestionably being the largest Green Canyon in the world, the Blyde River Canyon -stretching for 33km and about 1 400 meters deep.
Taking you back to the 1800’s – we head out to the mining village of Pilgrims Rest where the biggest gold rush of the time was initiated with some 1500 fortune seekers flocking to the site from all over the world. Your guide will share interesting facts and stories, like the robber who was banned from town after stealing a tent. We visit his grave, being the only one in the cemetery facing in an opposite direction as all the other graves. Return to your hotel. Dinner is included in your rate.
