Today you’ll explore the fascinating ecosystems of Isabela Island, the largest island in the archipelago.
Begin at Tintoreras Islet, a unique site known for its narrow lava channels where white-tip reef sharks (tintoreras) can often be seen resting. You may also encounter marine iguanas, sea lions, and penguins along the rocky shores.
In the afternoon, visit the Isabela Wetlands and Interpretation Center, where a network of trails takes you through lagoons, mangroves, and coastal habitats. Flamingos, turtles, and a variety of bird species are often spotted here.
Your morning excursion takes you to Moreno Point, a striking landscape of lava flows and coastal lagoons. As you walk across the black volcanic terrain, you may spot flamingos, herons, and marine iguanas basking in the sun.
Later, enjoy a panga ride or snorkeling session at Mangle Point (Fernandina Island), where calm waters wind through mangrove forests. This is a fantastic place to observe sea turtles, rays, and reef sharks in a serene and protected environment.
