Along the way, she points out colourful murals that beautifully capture Cape Malay life, customs, and dress from the 19th century.
The walk concludes at a speciality spice shop brimming with exotic herbs and spices from around the world. Together with Faldela, you will select a few of the most popular ingredients before heading up the hill to her own warm and welcoming home. After a refreshing beverage, she shares the secrets of her culture’s cuisine, and soon you find yourselves immersed in a lively Cape Malay cooking class. Under her guidance, you knead and slap the dough for soft rotis, blend fragrant spices for curries, and fold delicate samosas with a savoury filling.
