Day 1: Johannesburg

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, our Meet & Greet service welcomes you to South Africa.

You will be transferred to the Houghton Hotel.

A day at leisure enjoying the hotel facilities and view of the Houghton Golf Course. Should guests be interested in a round of golf this can be arranged (at additional cost).

  

Day 2: Johannesburg

A private morning tour of Soweto following breakfast. Your tour departs at 09h00 from the Houghton Hotel.

This tour takes you through the streets of So-we-to (South Western Townships) and its adjoining suburbs. Experience the history of the "apartheid" years. Visit the original home of Mr. Nelson Mandela (which is now the Mandela Family Museum),  as well as a shebeen (local tavern) and the Regina Mundi Catholic Church - the largest Catholic Cathedral in the Southern Hemisphere (1 600 square meters).

Following the tour, guests will  transfer back to the Hotel for lunch and afternoon at leisure

Day 3: Chobe River Front

Following breakfast, guests will transfer to OR Tambo International Airport.

Check in for your flight to Kasane, Botswana (* Flight not included).

On arrival transfer from Kasane Airport to Mowana Safari Resort & Spa on the banks of the famous Chobe River.

Afternoon Chobe River Cruise

An incredible safari experience awaits you on your  trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana, home to the world’s largest elephant population. The game viewing cruise on the Chobe River brings you close to brilliant bird life, pods of wallowing hippos, primeval crocodiles and breath-taking herds of elephants.

Chobe National Park is one Southern Africa’s renowned  wilderness areas.  Located in the north-east corner of Botswana  and  bordering Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, it is  an area where the countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Namibia meet. With the world’s largest elephant population  and a reputation for big cat sightings, this is  an absolute must on any itinerary where game viewing is high on the agenda.

Excellent game viewing can be  experienced on a  boat cruise, which takes guests to the inner reaches of the Chobe River  with it's magnificent animal and bird  life. During certain times of the year, a large flood plain appears which teems  with game enjoying the plentiful cool waters of Chobe. 

Return to Mowana Safari Resort & Spa. 

Enjoy dinner  and an evening at leisure under Botswana's clear night skies.

Day 4: Chobe River Front

Early Morning Game drive in the Chobe Game Reserve

Excellent game viewing can be experienced on a game drive through the Chobe National Park. Guests  can enjoy all the thrills that Chobe is famous for in an open game viewing vehicle.

A mid-morning breakfast is served at the  lodge, followed by a morning at leisure and time to self explore the indigenous gardens and lodge surroundings.

Lunch will be enjoyed at Mowana Safari Resort & Spa.

Late afternoon/ sunset river safari

Excellent game viewing can be  experienced on a  boat cruise, which takes guests to the inner reaches of the Chobe River  with it's magnificent animal and bird  life. During certain times of the year, a large flood plain appears which teems with game enjoying the plentiful cool waters of Chobe. 

Dinner at Mowana Resort & Spa and an evening at leisure enjoying the nightly 'bush orchestra' courtesy of the large and small creatures which call the Chobe River home.

Day 6: Livingstone

Following a leisurely breakfast you will bid Botswana goodbye and transfer to the David Livingstone Safari Lodge (Zambia) via Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Lunch at The  Lookout Cafe

Perched 120 meters above the turbulent rapids of the Zambezi River the Cafe is set against the backdrop of the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge, which hangs over the spectacular chasm of the Batoka Gorge. During the rainy season, wisps of  spray  curl around the edge of the rock face near the bridge. Creative cocktails and other beverages can be enjoyed at this iconic location.  From the vantage point of the Café, guests can watch the bright rafts plummet through the rapids below, or adrenaline lovers soaring through the air on one of the exciting high wire activities.

After lunch transfer to the David Livingstone Safari Lodge.

Livingstone Island (depart 15h30)

This is the spot from which David Livingstone got his first glimpse of the majestic falls. You can take  a boat trip out to the Island and enjoy the exceptional view from here. Peer over the edge or you can swim to the Devil's Pool (mid August to Mid January) only feet from the  edge  of the waterfall.

Boat transfer back to the hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 7: Livingstone

Following breakfast you will embark on your Tour of Victoria Falls.

Guided Tour of the Falls

If there is any magic in this world, it is contained in water. Perhaps this is why the Victoria Falls rain forest is such a captivating and enchanting place. There is a little bit of heaven reflected onto the earth in the curtain of water that cascades into the heart of the world. The Victoria Falls possess a beauty that is impossible to replicate through any man-made efforts, a trip to Southern Africa would not be complete without seeing it. It is a natural wonder, created by nature to remind us just how powerful and complex she is.

A guided tour of the falls enables you to delve into the local customs and traditions while gaining insight into how such an exquisite creation came to be. An aura of excitement envelopes everyone who lays eyes on this incredible spectacle.

Lady Livingstone Sunset Cruise

The Lady Livingstone is a 3 decker river cruiser designed with personal comfort in mind and able to seat 144 passengers. The sunset cruise usually takes around 2 hours, providing spectacular views of the sunset with snacks and drinks. The cruise takes place on the Zambezi along the river boundary of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, offering visitors an excellent opportunity for spotting crocodiles, hippos, and even elephants.

Day 8: Cape Town

After breakfast you will transfer to Victoria Falls Airport.

Check in for your International flight to Cape Town (*flight not included).

Upon arrival in  Cape Town our Meet & Greet service will welcome and assist you at the airport.

Approaching the city, Table Mountain looms ever larger through the windows of your transfer vehicle  (weather permitting).

The Portswood Hotel awaits your arrival, conveniently located within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront.

Your afternoon and evening  are at leisure to  explore the  variety of attractions, shopping excurions and restaurants at the  V&A Waterfront.

 

Day 9: Cape Town

Breakfast is followed by a private morning tour with a guide.

Depart the hotel at 09h00 and enjoy visiting Signal Hill and Camps Bay. This is followed by a drive along the scenic Chapman's Peak road and a visit to the Boulders penguin colony.  The tour ends back at the Portswood Hotel in the afternoon.

The  evening is yours to  enjoy  at leisure. 

Day 10: Franschhoek

Following breakfast your private transfer and guide will escort you to Table Mountain.

An exciting Cable Car ride to the top of the mountain offers panoramic views of the City and Atlantic Seaboard.

You will then be transferred to the Winelands of the Franschoek Valley.

Lunch will be enjoyed at Richard Branson’s Mont Rochelle Estate.

Following lunch you have the afternoon at leisure to explore the town and shops of Franschhoek.

Day 11: Franschhoek

Following breakfast you will enjoy a private transfer to Waterford Estate  in  Stellenbosch  for a Wine Safari.

Wine Drive Safari

The Wine Drive Safari is a unique three-hour trip on our safari-type vehicle, through the 120-hectare Estate on the beautiful slopes of the Helderberg mountains. This experience allows the chance to taste their award-winning Estate wines amongst the vineyards of their origin, and you will be expertly guided through all the aspects of what makes this area so biologically diverse and viticulturally unique.

The wine tasting will be accompanied by various light snacks, which are well suited to pair with the individual wines. The experience will culminate with the Wine and Chocolate Tasting back at the winery.

After the wine drive safari you will be transferred to  Delaire Graff Estate to enjoy a picturesque lunch.

Following lunch you will be transferred back to L'Ermitage Chateau & Villas.

Day 12: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Your private transfer will take you to Cape Town International Airport after breakfast.

Check in for your flight to Skukza Airport in the Kruger National Park (* Flight not included)

The lodge transfer will be waiting and provides you  with an additional game drive on the way to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. 

Late afternoon /  Evening Safari Game Drive

Day 13: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Morning Bush Walk 

A must for all nature enthusiasts is the bush walk. This affords guests the ultimate, close to the wild experience and a chance to focus on the smaller bush inhabitants including birds, insects and butterflies. One can discover the interesting world of trees, grasses, flowers, geology and ecology. Occasionally game can be seen on walks - including the “Big 5”. Bush walks take place either before or just after breakfast, depending on the time of the year and the prevailing weather conditions.

Late afternoon/ Evening Safari Game Drive

Depart on the late afternoon game drive .You are sure to have some special sightings as the sun starts to set and the temperatures start to cool off. Your guide will again stop in a beautiful location so you are able to enjoy your favourite sundowner beverage, while watching  another perfect African sunset.  Just before night falls, you will continue with the game drive as your guide and tracker use spot lights to find the creatures that are active at night.

Return to the lodge for a sumptuous dinner.

Day 14: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Early Morning Safari Game Drive

Enjoy an early cup of tea or coffee as your guide and tracker brief you on  the morning  game drive that lies ahead. Head out into the bush in anticipation of sighting all manner of Africa's wildlife. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is home to 145 mammal species , 500 bird species and 110 reptile species.

The Big 5 are on everyone's check list and you have a great chance of seeing them. But the smaller creatures, insects,  trees and grasses  are equally as impressive and provide wonderful photo opportunities too. 

Your guide will stop in the bush for a coffee break - usually in a scenic location.  Guests will enjoy a variety of snacks, teas, coffees and other refreshments.  

A mid-morning breakfast will be enjoyed back at the lodge.

Late afternoon/ Evening Safari Game Drive

Depart on the late afternoon game drive. You are sure to have some special sightings as the sun starts to set and the temperatures start to cool off. Your guide will again stop in a beautiful location so you are able to enjoy your favourite sundowner beverage.
