Day 1: Quirimbas Archipelago

On arrival at Pemba airport you will be welcomed and directed to your scenic flight to Ibo island, a 20 minute trip.

Explore an island of intrigue with a fascinating, history and ancient cultures. Regarded as Mozambique’s mighty slave trading centre, Ibo Island had remained all but forgotten to the outside world for over a century. Ibo is the most unique Island you will ever visit! Serene sandbank beach, ancient history & culture, water sports, birding, mangrove forests, guided experiences, sumptuous seafood, romance, luxury, and tranquillity correctly define Ibo Island.

Day 2: Quirimbas Archipelago

Ibo Island Lodge offers some of the broadest range of experiences in Mozambique, set in an undeniably unique and tranquil island atmosphere. The flexibility of guest activities is what makes Ibo Island Lodge renowned. It is the perfect island mix for guests wanting something authentic and more than just a typical beach holiday. At Ibo Island Lodge, the award nominated kitchen cooks up a culinary spledour. Sublime desserts such as Ibo coffee éclairs, surf-fresh seafood platters, smoked sail fish, coconut and chilli traditional Ibo Island crab curry, crunchy green pawpaw salad and lobster thermidor are some of the highlights on the menu. Fruits of the ocean and other tropical dishes are all prepared by local chefs, unhurried and from scratch.

Day 4: Quilalea Island

Ibo Island will transfer you to the sandbank which lies in the Quirimba Channel half way between Ibo and Quilalea. (20 mins). Quilalea will then collect the guests from the sandbank and continue the boat transfer to Quilalea Island (20 mins).

Azura at Quilalea has a relaxed and understated ‘Robinson Crusoe’ castaway style that belies the comforts and experiences on offer. Attention to detail, is paramount in the design, the finishes, and the overall wow factor of the island experience. The nine villas have been expanded and beautifully revamped in that subtle yet stunning Azura way, with spacious bathrooms, natural furnishings & pure African elegance.

Day 5: Quilalea Island

Relax, unwind and forget about the stresses of the outside world during your next blissful 3 days to be spent on this private island.

Amongst the activities you can enjoy on the island: snorkelling the island’s shores, dive from the main beach, kayak the mangroves or relax in a hammock beneath the giant baobabs on the island. Dhow cruises, deep sea fishing, sunset cruises, island tours and beach picnics are also amongst the activities offered on this totally uninhabited Island.

Cuisine at Quilalea is focused around the natural produce available locally, in line with the island’s ‘Green Ethos’. Lots of fresh fish and seafood dominate the menu, with dining a relaxed and laid back affair. Guests receive Azura’s trademark Mozambican Butler/Host service, where they try to make the dining experiences different through a range of unique and special venues and set-ups.

Day 8: End of Itinerary

After a relaxed holiday in paradise you will fly back via helicopter to Pemba for your onward travel.
