Founded in 1915 as the capital of the Batawana people, Maun has since developed into a vibrant small town – an exciting blend of modern life and a traditional atmosphere. Located on the southern edge of the delta, it serves as a central base for safaris into one of Africa's most captivating waterways. Here you can settle in, acclimatize after your journey, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Embark on your adventure and first safari in the Okavango Delta
At 9:00 AM, you will be greeted at the hotel by your German-speaking tour guide. Together with your group, you will begin the first leg of your journey: heading towards the Okavango Delta, where your safari begins. You will arrive at your newly built lodge on the edge of the delta, idyllically situated amidst wetlands and pristine nature. The comfortable tented chalets, built on raised wooden decks, offer not only pleasant coolness thanks to large mosquito nets and fans, but also a true "Out of Africa" feeling. The sweeping view from the terrace across the green wetlands offers the opportunity to enjoy your first wildlife sightings right from your room. In the afternoon, you will set off on your first game drive. In open safari vehicles, you will venture into the wilderness, where, with a bit of luck, you will already be able to observe elephants, giraffes, zebras, or antelopes in their natural habitat. Perhaps you will even spot a lion lurking in the shadows or a hippopotamus in the watercourse. Back at the lodge, the day ends with a leisurely dinner and the sounds of the African night. On water and on land in the Okavango Delta
Today an unforgettable experience awaits you in the Okavango Delta: a ride in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe that traverses the reed-lined canals of the delta. Sit back and enjoy the absolute silence while the water splashes gently under the mokoro and your experienced “poler” (helmsman) draws your attention to the diverse fauna and flora of the delta with a wealth of knowledge. This way of moving around the delta allows you to discover the little secrets of the delta without disturbing the tranquility of nature. After this peaceful ride, return to the lodge for lunch and relax with a refreshing drink.In the afternoon, depending on the water level, you will go on either another exciting game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle or a boat safari to experience the delta from a different perspective. Both options promise wildlife viewing, where with a bit of luck you might spot elephants, crocodiles or even predators. End the day with a traditional sundowner, a refreshing drink served in the middle of the wilderness as the sun slowly sinks over the horizon and the African evening sets in.
Journey to Moremi with Front-Line Wildlife Viewing
Today we continue to a camp near the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the best places for wildlife viewing in the Okavango Delta. Even on the drive there, you'll be treated to fantastic views of the African wilderness. With a bit of luck, you might spot herds of elephants, antelopes, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Your camp is situated by a large waterhole regularly visited by wildlife, meaning you have the opportunity to observe animals without ever leaving the camp. Simply sit on the terrace and enjoy the spectacle up close as the animals gather to drink or bathe. In the afternoon, an open-sided game drive awaits, taking you even deeper into the wilderness. Here you'll have the chance to encounter the animals grazing, playing, or in their natural environment.
Today we head towards the Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most renowned and game-rich areas in the Okavango Delta. On a full-day game drive in an open off-road vehicle, we hope for fantastic animal observations and unforgettable experiences in the middle of the African wilderness. This region used to be the richest hunting ground for the Batswana tribe before it was declared a protected area and is now one of the best places for wildlife viewing. Here we will explore the fascinating wildlife: elephants roaming the forests, hippos and buffalo frolicking in the waters, to majestic lions roaming the savannah. Here you can experience the wilderness in its purest form and up close.
Mobile Tent Camp in Savuti
Today we continue north to the legendary Savuti section of Chobe National Park, renowned for its dramatic scenery and high concentration of predators. The vast plains, dotted with acacia trees, provide a perfect habitat for lions, leopards, and many other wild animals. Our game drives take us along the famous Savuti Channel, a predator hotspot and a true paradise for wildlife viewing. Here, we hope for exciting sightings of lions lurking in the bush or hyenas roaming the savannah. Elephants, plains deer, and other animals are also likely to be encountered on our drives through this fascinating, wild region. In the evening, we arrive at our mobile tent camp, nestled in the heart of the wilderness. After a delicious dinner cooked over an open fire under the African stars, we can end the day with the typical sounds of the African bush.
A Wildlife Paradise
Today we'll spend the entire day on safari, exploring the wildlife-rich Savuti region. The area truly shines during the dry season: the short grass and sparse vegetation draw the animals to the few remaining water sources, promising incredible wildlife sightings. The skeletal trees scattered across the land reach towards the deep blue sky, offering stunning photographic opportunities, especially as the animals retreat to the shaded forest at dusk, and the golden and red rays of the African sunset stir up the dust. During our game drive, we'll not only be on the lookout for large predators like lions and leopards, but also for the plains wildlife that populates the landscape. Dusk provides the perfect opportunity to observe these animals in their natural habitat.
Safari Transfer to Kasane
Today's drive from Savuti to Kasane is more than just a simple transfer; it's another exciting safari! Along the way, we'll traverse a wildlife-rich area teeming with animals. We'll stop frequently to observe the wildlife native to this region. Whether it's elephants, buffalo, or other fascinating creatures, there's always something to discover. In the afternoon, we'll finally arrive at our lodge in Kasane. Here, you'll have the opportunity to relax and unwind with a refreshing dip in the pool. As the sun slowly sets, you can reminisce about the day's many experiences over a delicious dinner at the lodge and look forward to the next adventures.
Safaris in Chobe National Park
The Chobe River, which flows leisurely along the northern border of Chobe National Park, is known for its huge herds of elephants, which are regularly found on its banks. This morning we experience a 4WD game drive through Chobe National Park, where we can observe the mighty elephants, buffalo and many other animals in their natural habitat. After a siesta, a special highlight awaits us in the afternoon: a sundowner safari boat trip on the Chobe River. This trip gives us the unique opportunity to watch the huge herds of elephants return to the river to quench their thirst. It is always an unforgettable moment when they wade majestically through the water and you can enjoy the sunset in the background.
Visiting Victoria Falls
Today we cross the border into Zimbabwe to visit Victoria Falls, one of the world's most impressive natural wonders. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is also known as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" or "The Smoke That Thunders." These majestic waterfalls are among the largest and most famous on Earth, offering a spectacular display of thundering water and powerful spray. Surrounded by a lush, green rainforest nourished by the falls' spray, Victoria Falls is home to fascinating birdlife and a rich array of flora and fauna. The sight of the water plunging into the depths with a thunderous roar allows us to experience the untamed power of nature firsthand.
