We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. You can explore the capital city with its theaters, museums, historic buildings and beautiful parks. Alternatively, simply sit in a café and enjoy a cup of Costa Rican coffee while you watch the daily life of the “Ticos”

Day 2: La Fortuna

Meet your driver and begin your drive to La Fortuna, about 3.5 hours away.

Awaiting you today in the Northern Plains is the impressive Arenal Volcano, a natural wonder with an iconic cone-shaped crater. Along the way there, you will see plantations of various agricultural crops, ornamental plants, and cattle ranches before reaching the town of La Fortuna. The town is worth visiting to walk and to have lunch or dinner. Your hotel is strategically located to appreciate the volcano.

Day 3: La Fortuna

ARENAL VOLCANO 1968 TRAIL HIKE, 8:00AM PICK-UP, 2.5 HRS

Before the active period of 1968, a lavish canopy of vegetation covered the Arenal Volcano. People that climbed Arenal’ s summit related that inside the crater there were big trees and at night, they slept in places where there was some heat due to small steam outlets. Right now the green area is located at the east side of the Mountain, and other little green parts can be seen on the north and the south of the volcano.

Arenal Volcano Hike starts at Trail 1968 Park, which offers comfortable facilities and well though trails around a beautiful section Arenal Volcano National Park. This trail includes a lagoon, vast sections of secondary forest, and the famous 1968 solidified lava flow, which started the activity period of the volcano until 2010.

Once there the tour guide will talk about the natural and geological history of the magnificent Arenal volcano. While hiking along a 5km trail, we'll open our way across the "coladas" -pyroplastic material erupted in the past- and the rainforest, get to know the animals that might appear right aside our path and enjoy an impressive view of the volcano and Lake Arenal.

Day 4: La Fortuna

Early Birdwatching  Hiking Tour, 6:00am meet, 1.5 hours

Recharge and connect with nature.  For ornithological beginners or experienced birders.

You may begin your mornings by visiting the naturalist trails on property. During this you can expect to see several bird species, monkeys, sloths. Inhale peace, exhale toxins!

Villa Maleku Experience, 8:00am, 1.5 hours

A Cultural heritage rescue project.

Meet a fascinating Costa Rican ancestral culture and make new native friends. The colorful village of Villa Maleku says “capi capi” and welcomes you to this amazing experience full of nature, authentic culture, ancestral arts and rituals.

Supporting and buying their handcrafts you will help 12 families living in the poverty line

Continue with a Farm Visit where you have fun in an educational tour where you will feed, care, and interact with farm animals.

Day 5: Santa Elena

Shared Transfer, 8:00am, 3 hours 45 min,

Your next destination is the Monteverde cloud forest, a small community located at the top of the Tilarán Mountain Range and an important ecotourism destination in Costa Rica; the main attraction is the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. During the trip, you will see Lake Arenal and beautiful landscapes, and pass through some typical country villages. You will have the afternoon free to enjoy your hotel’s facilities.

On road between Arenal and Monteverde you will be transferred by a vehicle to the lake and then board a boat for approximately one hour to take us across to Monteverde.

This service is the fastest and a very scenic way to travel, where you can admire the beautiful views of all of the mountains, sky and the colossal Arenal volcano itself on our way across the lake. When you reach the other side of the lake, you will be picked up and driven to your hotel in Monteverde.

Monteverde is globally recognized for its cloud forest that extends to both sides of the Continental Divide. Currently, there are two reserves in the area: the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. You will be amazed at the area’s diversity and richness of nature walking along the numerous trails in either reserve. In the higher parts of the forest, there exists what is called “natural Elfin Forest” (the climate is such that the tallest trees do not exceed 10 meters).

Day 6: Santa Elena

Selvatura Treetops Walkways Suspension Bridges, 8:00am, 2.5 hours

Meet your driver this morning and continue to the park.

Selvatura Park’s treetop walkways provide the best way to safely admire the cloud forest canopy at your own pace.

Walking though on bridges, our visitors have the opportunity appreciate a wide variety of flora and fauna of Monteverde and observe the endemic biodiversity of the cloud forest canopy which is not found anywhere else in the world. The treetop walkways provide the best vantage point to observe the beauty of the cloud forest in all its levels.

Then enjoy some time in the hummingbird garden, our visitors will observe more than 14 different species of hummingbirds, including some species, which are not common on the Pacific side of the Monteverde continental division. The relaxing atmosphere and beautiful flower arrangements of the garden provide a perfect setting for nature photography lovers. The hummingbird garden is also a perfect picnic or rest area.

Day 7: Santa Elena

Don Juan Coffee, Chocolate and Sugar Tour, 8:00am, 2.5 hours

This morning meet your driver and start your Coffee tour with an introduction to the life cycle of a coffee plant starting with the coffee seed itself and taking a look at its fascinating evolutionary cycle. Then you receive the explanation with a brief insight into the wonderful world of coffee followed by the history of Costa Rican coffee and its importance in the socio-economic development. Later on during the tour we will cover other aspects of the Costa Rican culture and traditions.

When the coffee cherries are ready to be picked (from November through to February) this activity can be performed by the visitors.

Day 8: Manuel Antonio

Shared Transfer, 7:30am, 4 hours, 9 travelers maximum

Manuel Antonio is your next destination, it’s home to the smallest but most visited national park in Costa Rica. During your trip, be sure to stop at the Tarcoles River Bridge to see the giant crocodiles in their habitat. The lush landscape along the Central Pacific coast features rice and palm plantations.

The rest of the day is at your disposal to relax on the beach or enjoy the comforts of the hotel. In the afternoon you can enjoy the typical Costa Rican sunset and end your day on a high note.

Day 9: Manuel Antonio

 

Manuel Antonio National Park Visit, 8:00am, 3 hours

Do not miss the number one treasure of Costa Rica - the National Park Manuel Antonio. Take a comfortable hike with a certified guide, trained in education and the exploration of our bio- diversity consisting of a lush tropical forest preserved for over than 40 years. Explore the secluded beaches of the park and the exceptional variety of flora and fauna. The pace of this adventure is determined by the skills and interests of your group, and the abundance of wildlife you want to observe and learn about in its natural habitat. Sloths and numerous species of monkeys traveling through the treetops, anteaters, iguanas resting in the tropical jungle and the songs of the various birds will make for an unforgettable experience. To round up the tour you will be able to dip your feet into the crystal clear water of the beaches and the white sand while enjoying fresh tropical fruits and refreshments.

At the appointed time, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Please note that you must be at the airport 3 hours before your departure flight so we advise not to book a flight earlier than 3:00pm.
