The Ultimate Big Cat Safari With Jonathan Scott

Morning British Airways flight to Nairobi from London Heathrow. On arrival transfer to a nearby hotel for an overnight stay.

This morning, transfer to Wilson Airport for the short flight to Nanyuki, gateway to Mount Kenya and the game reserves of the Laikipia Plateau. Transfer to Sweetwaters Serena Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and enjoy lunch overlooking the waterhole. This afternoon the safari begins with a guided game drive on the 90,000 acre reserve which is not only home to white rhino and over 100 black rhino but also plenty of Africa’s other big game including elephants, lions and wild dogs. Return to the camp for dinner.

With the peak of Mount Kenya as your backdrop you will continue your exploration of the reserve on morning and afternoon game drives. You will visit the 700 acre Endangered Species Enclosure where the world’s last three northern white rhinos live and where you will learn how Ol Pejeta is trying to save this subspecies. You will also visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary which provides a safe haven for the rehabilitation of rescued chimps. A senior member of the conservancy will give a talk on the conservation work that Ol Pejeta carries out and the community projects they support.

After breakfast you will be taken to Nanyuki for the flight to the Masai Mara. After lunch at &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp you will meet Jonathan Scott and head out into the reserve on an afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara is renowned for its sheer numbers of animals and impressive variety of species and is particularly noted for sightings of big cats. Return to the camp for dinner.

Enjoy further exploration of the reserve in the company of Jonathan and the camp’s expert guides as you seek out prides of lions with magnificently maned males, cheetahs out on the open plains and majestic leopards. There will also be the option of an unforgettable early morning hot air balloon trip and Jonathan will give a presentation on the big cats of the Mara.

Jonathan will leave the group this morning and you will continue your safari with the camp’s knowledgeable and passionate guides. Tonight enjoy a wonderful farewell bush dinner under the stars.

Enjoy a final game drive and lunch before you fly this afternoon to Nairobi. You will have dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant and then transfer to the airport for the overnight British Airways flight to Heathrow.
