Day notes

Please make your way to the domestic terminal at Kenneth Kaunda International, at least one hour before departure but I suggest at 2 hours before departure, as the flights often leave early if everyone is there.

Your luggage allowance is 23kgs plus 5kgs hand luggage per person - and must be in soft bags, no hard cases or big frames.

Upon arrival at Royal airstrip you will be met by a driver/guide from the lodge who will transfer you to camp, approximately 35 minutes.

After settling in and meeting the relevant people, your daily plans will be mapped out.

Typically on safari you will be woken up early, have a light breakfast with hot drinks, fruit, toast and snacks before heading out at first light. Depending on what you are seeing and conditions, you could spend between 3– 4 hours before returning to camp for breakfast or brunch. Siesta through the middle of the day and then you may have lunch or a high-tea [each camp operates its own schedule], and then head out again in the afternoon between 3pm and 4pm. Afternoon game drives sometimes go on after dark, depending on park rules, so it is considered a night drive if you do go into the dark where you may view nocturnal creatures or even follow big cats on the hunt. [National Parks have gate times while private concessions do not] Return to camp around 7pm for dinner before heading back to your room for the night.

Day notes

27 June: Today you will be taken back to the airstrip, exact timing will be confirmed by the lodge the day before. It will be early for the 08.10 flight.

You will land in the town of Mfuwe outside the national park where you will meet your driver/guide who will get you back to camp, there may be other guests with you.

You have time here to settle in and enjoy the environment before heading out this afternoon - the schedule is much the same as at Baines.

Day notes

There is time for a last morning safari and to have a relaxed afternoon in camp before you will need to leave for the airport at around 16.30 this afternoon.  If they can allow you to stay in your tent for longer, they will, but if there are other guests arriving, they may need you to check out in the morning.   The lodge will transfer you back to Mfuwe airport in time for your flight back to Lusaka.
