Vis has always been a town and for a short period a state as well. At the beginning of 19th century 12,000 people lived here from all over Europe. Vis is especially well known for its cultural and historical heritage, but also for its natural beauties. Even the Greek writer Agatha chides in his scripts praised wines from Vis as being the best he had ever tasted, in comparison to other sorts he had tried. Their most autochthonous wine is most certainly Vugava which you can try in numerous restaurants and cellars all around the island.

Blue Cave has been described by Ransonet and is in Balun Bay on the eastern part of the island of Bisevo. It has been open to the public since 1884 when the external entrance was cut into the cave and through which the cave can be reached by means of a small rowing boat. When the sea is calm and the day is sunny, reflected sun rays pass through the undersea entrance to the cave and create a fascinating blueness, whilst an immersed object on the sea's surface adopts silverfish sheen Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

Day 8: Split

Disembarking from your private boat in Split harbor, your personal English speaking driver will wait for you at Split harbor for your transfer to your hotel.

Split is one of the most visited destination in Croatia. The first inhabitant of Split was the Roman emperor Diocletian who started to build his palace in this friendly bay around 293 AD. After his abdication he withdrew to this luxurious palace of about 30 thousand square meters. The following turbulent centuries made the palace into a town first populated by the citizens of the nearby Salona, fleeing before Avars and Slavs.

The ruins of Diocletian's Palace, built between the late 3rd and the early 4th centuries A.D., can be found throughout the city. The importance of Diocletian's Palace far transcends local significance because of its level of preservation and the buildings of succeeding historical periods, starting in the Roman period, which form the very tissue of old Split. The palace is one of the most famous and integral architectural and cultural buildings on the Croatian Adriatic coast.

Day 9: Split

Today you will be taken on a magical ride with your guide to discover the history, culture and main town attractions of the historic center of Split. This Taste of Split tour is crafted uniquely in order to combine historic sightseeing with stops at three different restaurants, all with the purpose of illustrating the local cuisine with typical regional ingredients and contemporary views on authentic specialties. In the coastal regions of Croatia, the cuisine has a rather Mediterranean flavor, as you would expect, with lots of olive oil used in the preparation.

This unique exclusive tour pairs amazing food and historic sightseeing.

Dalmatian cuisine relies heavily on fresh fish and seafood that are caught (or farmed) offshore. When ordering look for fresh sea bass, grouper, scorpion fish, pilchards, mackerel, squid and sea bream. Fish is usually grilled with local olive oil, garlic, parsley and lemon. Thin slices of smoked Dalmatian ham are often on the appetizer list. Lamb is popular either boiled or baked.
