Days 1 - 2: Tarangire National Park

  • On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), we  will welcome you to Tanzania, and a private driver-guide will transfer you to Tarangire National Park by road. This beautiful park is home to Tanzania’s largest concentration of elephants and over 500 bird species, with varied terrain from granite ridges, river valleys, baobab trees dotting the savannah, and the wildlife-rich Silale swamp near Oliver’s Camp.

  • Enjoy exciting game drives and walking safaris to observe the smaller creatures and learn about animal tracking. Alternatively, take to the skies in a hot-air balloon at dawn or spot rare nocturnal wildlife on a thrilling night drive.  

  • Oliver’s Camp is one of the pioneering properties in the Asilia portfolio, founded in 1992 by safari legend, Paul Oliver. Over the decades, we have created a friendly and welcoming base for exploring this beautiful park.  

  • You can relax and enjoy the serenity of the bush and generous landscapes from your private deck. When not out on game drives, the swimming pool offers an inviting spot for a refreshing dip.

Days 3 - 5: Ngorongoro Crater

  • After a delicious breakfast surrounded by the early morning soundscape of the bush, you will be transferred to The Highlands in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, driving up the Rift Valley Escarpment and stopping to soak in the view of the crater on the journey to camp.  

  • At over 8,000 feet, eight unique Perspex and canvas geodesic domed suites are surrounded by lush vegetation, affording breathtaking views of distant volcanic mountains and the Serengeti. Each suite has a fireplace to keep you warm in the cool nighttime temperatures, and an en suite bathroom with hot running water, showers, and flushing toilets.

  • The camp’s location on the side of the Olmoti crater offers rewarding walking opportunities, a welcome chance to stretch your legs after a few days in a vehicle.  

  • On an early morning departure from camp, your experienced safari guide will take you on a game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in a comfortable seven-seater vehicle with pop-up rooftops, onboard power points, and fridges.

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor while spotting Tanzania’s iconic wildlife. Your stay also includes a hike down into Empakaai Crater, where a soda lake attracts flamingos on their migration path, as well as a fascinating cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village.  

  • Our wholesome meals are made from the freshest locally sourced produce and served in our dining room, or outside on the deck. The Highlands is an award-winning destination that promises a memorable stay.

Days 6 - 8: Northern Serengeti

  • After enjoying a final delicious breakfast, your guide will take you to the Manyara airstrip for a flight to the northern Serengeti. You will be met by a guide and transferred to the beautiful Sayari Camp, your base for the final chapter of your family safari. Located close to the Mara River, where each season the migrating wildebeest, zebra and gazelle herds cross in search of fresh grazing. Whether you are lucky enough to witness this wildlife spectacle or enjoy the resident wildlife, there is so much to see from here. The vast savannahs here are home to lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, hippo and even black rhino, as well as hundreds of bird species.  
  • Sayari Camp offers 15 spacious and bright tented suites with luxurious bathrooms featuring walk-in showers, al fresco bathtubs overlooking the savannah plains, and an outdoor shower on your deck. You can relax on your wraparound veranda with a book or favourite beverage while spotting passing wildlife. The Retreats at Sayari Camp provide elevated flexibility and luxury with private space, an experienced and dedicated chef, a personable and knowledgeable private guide, and a safari vehicle. 
  • Experience sensational twice-daily safaris led by expert guides, walking safaris and enriching cultural experiences to visit the nearby Kuria tribe.
  • A hot-air balloon ride is exhilarating, and sampling the Serengeti’s first solar-powered microbrewery at Sayari is a perfect way to round off a dusty day out on safari.

Day 9: End of Itinerary

  • Wake to the birdsong of the Serengeti and enjoy a final sumptuous breakfast before saying your fond farewells to our warm and hospitable team.
  • We will transfer you to the airstrip to connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, where you will make your way homeward bound, your heads and hearts filled with unforgettable, fabulous, family-made memories.
