Rio de Janeiro City Break

Day notes

After arriving at Rio de Janeiro International airport we will be transferred to our hotel. Welcome to the Cidade Maravilhosa, Welcome to Brazil, Samba Country!

We will Depart from hotel on a City Tour including visit to Corcovado (includes train tickets)!

We will visit one of Rio de Janeiro highlights and a world's icon: the Corcovado Mountain. Afterwards we will visit the beautiful downtown Rio!

We will drive to one of the older parts of Rio called Cosme Velho, from where we take the train to the Corcovado Mountain with the gigantic statue of Christ the Redeemer (2.300ft above sea level). A modern swiss-made cogwheel rail climbs the mountain from its base at 15meters almost to the summit at 710 meters. The train trip up takes 17 minutes aprox, at a maximum speed of 15km/h. The trip down takes 22min, at a speed of 12km/h.

After breakfast we will be picked up at our hotel and will be taken on our tour:

Today we will visit another one of Rio de Janeiro highlights and world's icon: the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain and its Cable Car!

We will drive to "Praia Vermelha" (Red Beach) to take the two stage car up to the top of Sugar Loaf (270), which grants the entrance to Rio de Janeiro Harbor and Guanabara Bay! The Italian designed cable car holds 80 passengers and each of the two stages take two minutes.  The First stage is Morro da Urca (170m), with a restaurant, amphitheater and helicopter pad! The second stage goest on to Sugar Loaf Mountain itself, thus names for its resemblance to the loaves of sugar used by the Portuguese at the time of the city's discovery.

We will also visit Carnival Behind The Scenes at Carnival Experience!

Day notes

After breakfast we will leave our hotel and walk to the next metro station. We will take the Metro on the way to downtown. We will walk thru historical Downtown Rio de Janeiro alleys and lanes! We will see beautiful Museums and Churches. We will eventually visit an Exposition at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and will walk thru the beautiful Orla Conde, until the graffiti work: "Mural do Kobra"! We will also walk along Lapa and visit Celaron stairs!
