Special Host during your excursion: Gonzalo Torres (subject to availability) who is a well known figure in Peru, apart from being an actor and a clown, he has local cable show called “A La Vuelta de la Esquina” which has been around for almost 12 years winning some awards for best cultural programme in Peru. His show is centered on urban exploration of Lima touching upon history, architecture, art, urban spaces, culture and heritage through the intervention of many cultures and people and how it is all woven not only into the personality of the “limeños” but on “feel” and sights of the city as well. He is knowledgeable on the least trodden paths of the city and can surprise you with some spaces not usually open to the public.

The list of must-see attractions in Lima is as long as a llama neck, however our experienced guides will help you make the most of your time by showing you the best of Lima in your particular areas of interest. Highlights include archeological wonders, colonial jewels, world-class museums, captivating public art, and the most beautiful and photogenic viewpoints in the city.

Horseback Riding through Maras & Moray
Start your day by heading to the fascinating salt mines of Maras, where seeing the locals mining the salt by hand is a truly unique experience. You will have the option to buy some salt from the source, supporting the local economy and making an excellent souvenir. Continue onto the verdant pastures of Piscuyro to enjoy a gourmet box lunch and to meet your trusty steed, a fine Peruvian Paso horse, With the snow-capped Urubamba mountain range as your backdrop, saunter through the potato, bean, corn, and quinoa fields until you reach the mystical ruins of Moray, terraced depressions in the earth, whose purpose remains uncertain. Although their crop circle-like appearance invites otherworldly hypotheses, it has been suggested that these unusual Inca ruins were actually a sophisticated crop laboratory designed to study the optimum growing conditions for different species.

Explore Machu Picchu
Meet your guide at the exit of the train station or in the lobby of your hotel for a short walk to the bus station and a 20-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu Citadel (elevation: 8,000 ft. – 2,432 m.a.s.l.). Scratching the surface of the heavens from its place atop the grandest of mountaintop pedestals, it is easy to lose yourself in the mystique and grandeur of this enigmatic citadel. Soak in the energy and atmosphere of one of the most significant archeological sites on the planet while your guide helps you uncover the secrets behind key areas of interest such as the Sun Dial, the Guard House, the Sacred Plaza and the Temple of the Sun.

Conquering Machu Picchu Mountain
Take a short walk from your hotel, followed by a 20-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu citadel (8,000 ft. – 2,432 m.a.s.l) only if you're staying down in the village. This medium to challenging ascent is an absolute must-do for the adventurous! The trail, accessed from the archaeological site and mainly made of stone stairs, joins parts of the Inca Trail before reaching Machu Picchu Mountain's peak in up to two hours. Relax at the summit and enjoy a sensational view back down over Machupicchu and other significant ruins in the area, as well as of the jagged, larger-than-life Andes before going down in about an hour and a half.

Locals Only Cusco
This “locals only” take on Cusco allows adventurous travelers to avoid the masses and get a look at (and taste of) the authentic treasures that the locals have enjoyed for generations. The itinerary is flexible depending on the preferences of the traveler, as well as the goings-ons of the particular day. Choose between markets, learning traditional cooking, meeting artisans and more. Whatever you choose, prepare for an authentic encounter in the heart of the Andes.
