Home to three of the Big Five – Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino – Mziki Safari Lodge offers a malaria-free environment in which families can enjoy safari viewing in a safe, comfortable and relaxed environment. Mziki Safari Lodge does not have an age restriction for game viewing with families catered for on their own game vehicles so as to ensure their comfort and that of other lodge guests. Explore the wonders of the African bush by day, or night, with your expert game ranger, from the area’s prolific birdlife, to mammals, trees and even insects.

Day 2: North West Province

This morning you will enjoy an early monring game drive, followed by breakfast and then a bush walk. In the hotter months you may choose to do an early bush walk rather before the day gets too hot.

Get up close and personal to the bush as you accompany one of the knowledgeable rangers on a bush walk to observe unobstructed wildlife behaviour. Visit areas that cannot be explored by vehicle and gain first-hand knowledge of some of Africa’s hidden secrets on foot, surrounded by the cheerful chattering of birds.

The mighty Hex river flows through Mziki Safari Reserve providing over 8km of river frontage through the reserve. A particular highlight among guests is the convivial Mama Hippo barge cruises that Mziki Safari Lodge offers along Hex river into the Vaalkop dam. Depending on the water levels, guests can enjoy a different encounter with the African bushveld, this time from the water’s side, watching the crocodile and water birds go about the daily business while enjoying are refreshing drink.

Birders will delight in Mziki Safari Lodge’s excellent bird-watching opportunities. Bordering the 2,000-hectare Vaalkop Dam, considered one of the top three birding areas in the country, Mziki Private Game Reserve is home to several hundred species of birds.

Mziki Safari Lodge guests can enjoy unrivalled views of game as they visit the waterhole conveniently set just a few metres from the edge of the lodge. Watch elephant, buffalo, antelopes and even guinea fowl as they stop for a quick drink and interact in their natural environment. Pull up a chair in the indigenous gardens or relax under the Outdoor Safari Lounge to watch them in all their splendour. At night, the waterhole is fully lit so you’ll be sure not to miss out on any nighttime passers by.

Day 3: North West Province

This morning after breakfast drive to the Manyane Gate of Pilanesberg National Park in time for your monring game drive pick-up at 09.30. Enjoy a 3-hour guided game drive in this Big Five reserve in an open safari vehicle. After your game drive you might decide to spend a little longer in the park driving yourselves around, searching those animals who have thus far eluded you.

Drive back to Mziki safari Lodge in time for the afternoon game drive.

Dine under the stars in Mziki Safari Lodge’s Open Air Bush Boma, the warm African breeze and sounds of crickets and birds providing the musical backdrop to an unforgettable traditional African feast. Little touches provide the perfect dinner accompaniment, such as Starling’s table settings, garnished with love and care, and an unfettered sky of stars that will have you spellbound throughout the night.
