Day 1: Harare

  • On arrival at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (Harare) you will proceed to the collect your rental vehicle. Complete the necessary paperwork before making your way to your accommodation in town
  • The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing at your own leisure
  • For dinner tonight, you can head into town for a bite to eat at one of Harare's well known restaurants or dine at the lodge

Day 2: Mutare

Harare - Mutare                                     245km - approximately 3 to 4 hours

  • After breakfast, head into town for some supplies (snacks, drinks etc.) for the road before you make your way to your next destination. Your adventure begins…  
  • Musangano Lodge is ideally located for exploring the attractions of the Eastern Highlands like the Vumba Mountains, Nyanga National Park and Honde Valley. When you feel like stretching your legs, there are a variety of activities at hand on site and nearby to suit all ages and interests
  • The outreach community project ‘Nurturing Communities Shaping Lives’ offers exciting insights into the lives of ordinary – and not so ordinary Zimbabweans with the rare opportunity of first hand experiences and lasting memories to take home
  • Activities available at the lodge (optional extra) are birding, walking, biking, hiking and cultural tours. The lodge is also nearby the Mutare Hillside golf course, Chikundu Game Park, Osborne Dam.

Days 3 - 5: Gonarezhou National Park

Mutare – Gonarezhou National Park       360km - approximately 4 to 5 hours

  • From Mutare continue to Gonarezhou National Park for the next few nights
  • Enjoy the activities included at the lodge
  • Marvel at the 1,000-year-old baobab trees, cross the river beds and wander up to the top of spectacular red cliffs. Look out for wild dogs; Gonarezhou has one of the strongest populations of these endangered carnivores
  • Activities on offer are game drives, game walks, Tambahata Pan Watch best for photography, bird and game viewing, Mahenye cultural village visit, boat cruises, fishing or guests could take a walk to visit the iconic Chilojo Cliffs and Chivilila Falls on foot. Go with a guide, remember you really are in the wild here so your guide will be an armed one

Day 6: Lake Mutirikwi

Gonarezhou National Park – Masvingo   270km - approximately 4 hours

  • This morning you will depart and make your way to your next destination set in 120 acres of rolling Msasa woodland in the granite hills overlooking Lake Mutirikwe
  • Situated upon a granite outcrop close to Great Zimbabwe and the highlights of this area, you’ll find your guesthouse. The guesthouse offers the perfect setting from which to explore Africa’s most priceless archaeological treasures.
  • Dine in, there’s a fully appointed restaurant on site offering your full English breakfast and a 4 course Table d’hôte menu in the evenings

Days 7 - 8: Matobo National Park

Masvingo – Matobo National Park          125km – approximately 3 to 4 hours

  • This morning you will have breakfast and depart to your next destination, just outside Bulawayo, for the next few nights
  • Amalinda Lodge, an African inspired refuge, where world-class facilities combine with the spiritual energy, allure and unique beauty, for which the Matobo Hills is so celebrated.
  • Relax on arrival and enjoy an optional extra activity or boat cruise in the area (if time allows)
  • 1 full day is set aside to enjoy this incredible area. Mammal and bird species are prolific and include the highest concentrations of leopard and black eagle in the world, as well as a healthy population of the endangered black rhino. Activities include game viewing by foot or vehicle. You can track the endangered black rhino or drive through the granite hills in the footsteps of Cecil John Rhodes and visit his world famous tomb known as the “View of the World”. Matabele cultural visits are also on offer.

Days 9 - 11: Hwange National Park

Matobo National Park – Hwange National Park   320km – approximately 4 to 5 hours

  • Today your adventure continues to Hwange National Park for the next 3 nights
  • Two full days are set aside to enjoy self-drive game drives inside the park or optional extra activities with the lodge
  • The elevated en-suite rooms are positioned with sweeping views of the waterhole that is floodlit by night. The central dining area, bar and library are set around the deep blue pool - a welcome haven from the scorching midday heat. Bush cuisine offers campfire barbeques under a massive blanket of stars.
  • Ivory Lodge also has a hide next to a waterhole where a heightened wildlife experience is within a stone’s throw away. Activities on offer are walking and game drives in both the concession and Game Park. Night drives in the concession can also be arranged on request.

Day 12: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Hwange National Park – Victoria Falls    180km – approximately 2 to 3 hours

  • Make your way to Victoria Falls today, where you will spend the last night of your trip. Stay longer here to have more time for activities and to explore.
  • Visit to Victoria Falls this afternoon (if time allows), either on your own or arrange to go with a guide
  • Recommended is a sunset Zambezi boat cruise to end the day (optional extra) or look to dine at The Boma Restaurant for a taste of the African flavours, action, music and atmosphere

Day 13: End of Itinerary

  • After breakfast and a morning activity (if time allows depending on your departure flight), you will depart to the airport where you drop off the rental vehicle and your holiday comes to an end
  • Leave enough time for the vehicle handover and keep in mind you need to be at the airport roughly 2 hours prior to departure
