Day 2. Tarangire National Park (safari)
After breakfast, travel to Tarangire National Park, known as the home of giants because of it’s huge herds of elephant and majestic Baobab trees, and enjoy a picnic lunch with a spectacular view.
Every year during the dry season from June to November Tarangire hosts a wildlife migration which is not as dramatic as the Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti, but receives a somewhat large number of animals. As most of this part of the country is dry, the Tarangire River remains the only source of water and consequently attracts large numbers of wildebeests, elephants, gazelles, zebras and hartebeest, buffaloes plus various predators like lions that come to drink and graze around the river banks. during the rain months of November to May, The zebras as well as large herds of wildebeests move into the north-western direction towards the Rift Valley floor amongst the large numbers of animals that spread across the large open areas of the Masaai Steppe and dispersing all the way to Lake Manyara.

Day 4. Central Serengeti NP - Northern Serengeti NP (safari - migration)
Today we make our way to the northern section af the famous Serengeti National Park in search for the enormous wildebeest migration. Millions of gnoes travel around the Serengeti NP following the rains in search for fresh grasses.
Between July and September/early October the wildebeest migration is present in the northern Serengeti NP to cross the river(s) to reach Kenia's Masai Mara.
Actually the Serengeti NP (Tanzania) and the Masai Mara NP (Kenya) is one huge reserve but since the National Park is situated in 2 different countries, the name changes once you reach another country.

Together with your private guide you make a plan for today.
You have all the time to search for the migration or wait at one of the many crossing points until the pressure from the wildebeests is big enough that the wildebeest at the water's edge need to jump into the water.
Crocodiles await them and the spectacle has started. As it is with everything in the bush …. patience is the key word !!

Day 6. Northern Serengeti NP - Central Serengeti NP (Seronera area - safari)
Most safari game drives concentrate along the Seronera River and with excellent reason: lion sightings are common and the riverbank is home to one of the world's densest population of leopards. The sausage trees and umbrella thorns rank among the best places in Africa to search for leopards - there are too few tall trees for these elusive creatures to be well-hidden. Several lion prides in the area have also taken to the trees regularly in recent years, particularly during the rains. A very special sight!
The kopjes near Seronera also offer lion sightings regularly. Especially the Moru Koppies provide very good lion and cheetah sightings. The area also accommodates around 25 black rhinos, offspring of a herd of seven that migrated across from Ngorongoro. The vast plains south of the Seronera River, often known as the Serengeti Plains, are good for cheetahs sightings. Ecologically, the plains running immediately southeast from Seronera form a continuum with the Ndutu and Ngorongoro Crater Area, comprising open grassland dotted with several clusters of koppies. The plains rising towards the Kamuyo Hills west of the Seronera River are good for spotted hyena, , cheetah and elephants.
Fed by the Mbalageti River immediately northeast of Moru Koppies, the small, saline Lake Magadi (a common name for lakes, as 'magadi' just means soda or salt) often supports large numbers of aquatic birds, including thousands of flamingos when the water level is suitable. The Retima Hippo Pool is home to up to 100 hippo’s, which can be seen basking near the confluence of the Seronera and Grumeti rivers about 15 kilometers north of the park headquarters.

Day 8. Active day hiking & cycling (for every age)
The bustling farming community of Mto Wa Mbu, located between Manyara and Ngorongoro, is home to around 18,000 people. Spend half a day here with a knowledgeable local guide and you’ll discover a side of Tanzania that many visitors miss.
What to expect during your village walk
A melting pot of cultures, Mto Wa Mbu is thought to be one of the only places in Tanzania where there are representatives from all 120 tribes living happily side by side. Although the name translates as ‘Mosquito River’, due to the permanent water source in the village, we fortunately didn’t see many mosquitoes.
Your guide is very likely to be from the village itself so you will have a unique opportunity to see the community through his eyes. Tours last around 2–3 hours, but are flexible. During your visit you’ll get a good feel for the social side of the village – the farms and the milling machines, the schools, markets and churches. Your guide will happily answer any questions you might have, and will help you to gain an understanding of the inner workings of this typical Tanzanian community.

Day 9. Karatu - Kilimanjaro airport (or Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar)
