At 10am we will meet our guide to spend the morning experiencing some of the best of Arenal, with a visit to the Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna Waterfall. Walk through lush rainforests, explore biodiversity, and enjoy a refreshing swim in crystal-clear waters.
This tour combines rainforest exploration with one of the most iconic waterfalls in Costa Rica and is ideal for travelers who want to connect with nature through scenic walks and refreshing moments in the jungle.
Our day starts with a visit to Arenal Hanging Bridges, walking through rainforest trails and suspension bridges in the canopy. This unique perspective lets you observe wildlife, tropical plants, and the rich biodiversity of the region.
The tour continues to La Fortuna Waterfall, one of the most beautiful natural attractions in the area. You can swim in clear waters surrounded by lush rainforest and enjoy a peaceful connection with nature.
After working up an appetite, we depart for the Doña Mara Tortilla Making Experience and visit with a local family. This time at Doña Maras home will give you a better understanding of the meaning of “Pura Vida” (pure life) experienced by rural Costa Ricans. This authentic cultural experience should be a part of everyone’s visit to Costa Rica!
You will be welcomed with a tropical drink (pineapple, orange, and coconut water) at the “rancho” (like a gazebo) and enjoy a delicious typical lunch prepared on Doña Mara’s rustic wood-fired stove. While lunch is cooking, you will get an opportunity to try your hand at making tortillas from freshly ground corn “masa.” You will learn how to flatten the dough into perfect circles, ready for cooking – and for the best part – you will get to enjoy the fresh homemade tortillas served with lunch! Guests are encouraged to practice their Spanish and learn about Costa Rican culture while eating lunch with the family
After lunch we head back to our hotel for some time to relax before our final activity of the trip.
At 5pm we meet for a brief ride to the Eco Termales Hot Springs. This sanctuary of pleasure, nature, and beauty that has been the life's work of the Hidalgo family focused on toward privacy and relaxation — it does not accept more than 100 visitors at one time so guests will never feel lost in crowd and will always find your own place to unwind.
There are five volcanic hot springs fed pools that range in temperature from 99 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. There is also a waterfall and freshwater pool adding to the ambiance. While the pools are manmade, they are built to contain and enhance the natural volcanic hot springs which feed directly into them. In addition to hot springs, the property offers several paved and lit trails so you can explore the surrounding jungle. There are large trees, broadleaf plants and many tropical flowers. It truly is a magical setting!
When you arrive, you will be provided with a time slot for your dinner. The meal is served in an open-air restaurant, providing authentic Costa Rican food. Coffee and dessert are included as well. The property also offers a poolside bar for an additional fee. Offerings include juices, cocktails and other beverages.
For the morning tour, be sure to wear comfortable clothes & closed-in shoes. Bring your camera, sunscreen, water shoes with straps, bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, extra clothes for after the tour and a towel.
