Days 1 - 3: Majete Wildlife Reserve

A warm welcome to Malawi!

On your arrival at Chileka International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide, who will safely take you to the Majete Wildlife Reserve. Spend the first three nights of your holiday in Malawi at Mkulumadzi Lodge which is one of only two lodges in the Majete Reserve.

  • Majete is a stunning wilderness area with thick bush and the lower Shire River, which descends into rapids in front of the lodge. There is so much to enjoy when on a game-drive, gorgeous landscapes, stunning views over the river and there is no shortage of antelope, especially Nyala & Waterbuck.
  • Cross over the swinging footbridge to get to the lodge where you will be surprised by the beautifully designed and spacious chalets. The food is superb and the staff will see to your every need.

Days 4 - 6: Thyolo

Time to explore more of Malawi! In the morning your private guide will take you on a trip to Satemwa Tea Estate, a family owned tea and coffee estate in the south of Malawi.

Spend the next nights at Huntingdon House, an epitome of old colonialism situated right within the tea estates.

  • One of the not-to-be-missed experiences unique to staying on a tea growing estate is a Tea Tasting. Your guide will explain the full process from planting through to harvesting and production whilst titillating your taste buds with various teas, including white, green, black & oolong and other Satemwa specialties.
  • Enjoy a Coffee Tour, which highlights all the activities going on at that particular time. The main harvesting season for coffee is between May and late August.
  • With over 105 miles of dirt roads and hundreds more paths and tracks, Satemwa is a fantastic and diverse place to explore on foot.
  • One hour and 30 min from the estate, guides can be arranged for any guests wishing to tackle Malawi's largest piece of rock! Mulanje is the third highest free-standing peak in Africa.
  • An ornithologists' paradise, the varied vegetation on the estate provides ideal habitats for a variety of Malawi's bird species including the little-known bird of Africa’s disappearing montane evergreen forests, the Thyolo Alethe.
  • Enjoy day trips to Zomba Plateau or Blantyre.

Days 7 - 9: Liwonde National Park

Next up is Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi's wildlife conservation success stories.

  • Your private guide will transfer you to Mvuu Lodge located along the Shire River right within the park. You are set to enjoy delicious meals and spectacular animal sightings during your game-viewing activities for the next three nights of your stay here.
  • A wooden pathway over the lagoon will lead you to a refreshing swimming pool and sunbeds, nestled between fever trees. Animals love spending time around it too! The path continues, taking you to a relaxing and mindfulness-infused yoga deck built entirely with local materials.

Days 10 - 13: Likoma Island

In the morning you have a private transfer to Lilongwe International Airport to catch your flight to Likoma Airport. On arrival receive a warm welcome and transfers to Kaya Mawa Lodge.  Likoma Island is a unique destination in Lake Malawi providing complete relaxation, indulgence and a range of incredible water sports in the beautiful blue waters.

  • Relax on the deck of your cottage with private pool.
  • The area is fantastic for diving and snorkeling.
  • The island has lots to offer from St. Peter’s Cathedral, said to be the same size as Winchester Cathedral in England, to the fishing villages and the lakeshore that turns litter and broken glass into stunning home furnishings.
