This morning (06:30) you venture out on an early morning game drive in the Mosi-au-Tunya National Park, which is home to some of Africa's biggest personalities, such as the white rhino, buffalo, elephant, antelope, as well as a host of bird life. Our open game-viewing vehicles, driven by our expert guides are the best way in which to encounter these animals in their natural habitat. Although wildlife sighting cannot be guaranteed, it is a privilege to share a space with these magnificent animals and absorb the beauty of Africa through an abundance of indigenous flora.
Returning to the lodge at approximately 09:30, we freshen up and have some brunch before venturing out on a lunch Livingstone Island experience (11:50).
This awe-inspiring island is perched on the edge of a cavernous gorge, eye to eye with the roaring cloud of mist, “Mosi-Oa-Tunya” (The Smoke That Thunders). Its neighbour is the raging wave of the Zambezi that plunges down the black basalt rock. When you sit on Livingstone Island surrounded by pristine natural beauty, you will meet the Queen of Africa- the Victoria Falls.
We return in time to at 15:00, before we need to depart on our Elephant Cafe Dinner excursion at 15:15.
The Elephant Café veers off the beaten track not only in location, but with its unique blend of wild eatables, foraged locally. The guests are greeted by the resident elephants, gentle giants of all ages, whose peaceful demeanour washes over their guests. Seated upon a beautifully-appointed deck suspended over the Zambezi River, the diner’s taste buds are taken on an African adventure.
We return back around 21:15.
