Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will proceed to clear immigration and customs. Thereafter, you will be met by a PRIMATE SAFARIS representative just outside the baggage hall area, introduced to your driver/ guide and transferred toThe Protea Entebbe Hotel.
After an early breakfast, you embark on your journey to the Western Circuit. After a brief stop at Masindi, where you will enjoy lunch, your journey takes you on to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive takes approximately 6 hours. The stunning landscape changes as you head north to the bottom of the Victoria Nile, where it begins to flatten out. Enjoy a hike to the top of the falls and take in the breathtaking scenery. You will then proceed to Bakers Lodge where you will get to enjoy an evening game drive followed by dinner.
Today you spend exploring Murchison's National Park. The morning kicks off with a game drive along the northern banks of the river Nile. Expect to see elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild's giraffe, hartebeest, Oribi, bushbuck, reedbuck, spotted hyena and perhaps if you are lucky, the elusive leopard. You will then return to enjoy breakfast and lunch back at the lodge. In the afternoon you will set off on a boat cruise (at 14:00 hours, extra cost) upstream along the Nile, to a calm spot very close to the "Devil's Cauldron". Here the Nile river squeezes through a 6m canyon, dropping 40m creating a thunderous roar and a rainbow spectacle. A boat cruise to the Devil’s Cauldron provides you with an opportunity to view animals like crocodiles and hippos as well as many bird species which include the Goliath heron, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. You may also catch a glimpse of a few elephant along the way.
Today you set off to Kibale Forest Reserve via Hoima and Fort Portal - the breathtaking passing scenery forms the Albertine western Rift Valley. Although the drive is long, there are several stop overs to relax, and sightsee. Verdant countryside, traditional homesteads and farms dot the horizon. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch on the way. Check in and relax for the rest of the evening.
Today you have the choice of either a full day chimpanzee habituation experience OR a normal trek...
Normal Trek: After breakfast you are transferred to the park headquarters for registration, after which you will enter the forest in search of the cheeky chimpanzee. You will return to the lodge for lunch.
Habituation: After an early breakfast you will be transfered to the Kanyanchu visitor’s centre to attend the morning briefing on Chimpanzee Habituation. From here, you depart with a researcher and ranger (the maximum group size is 6 people) who will lead you through the forest in search of the troop of chimpanzee. On sighting the chimps you will spend time with them, observing their habits. Enjoy a packed lunch and return to the lodge around 6pm.
After breakfast you depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You head southwards via Kasese, briefly stopping at the Equator crossing. As you enter the Queen Elizabeth National Park you make your way to the southern tip, known as the Ishasha sector. Check in for lunch at the Ishasha Wilderness Camp, unpack and get settled. Enjoy your late afternoon game drive in search of the famous tree climbing lions……
Enjoy an early morning and late afternoon game drive.
This morning you will enjoy your last breakfast and game drive at Ishasha Wilderness Camp before checking out for the next leg of your Ugandan adventure, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in the Buhoma sector of the Impenetrable Forest. Relax, unwind and enjoy a guided community walk (no extra cost) later in the afternoon.
Over the next couple of days you will enjoy the surreal experience of tracking gorillas.
After breakfast you head up to the park offices to attend a briefing by the Tourism Conservation and the gorilla guides. You will be briefed on how to behave in the forest while in the presence of the gorilla family. After registration you set out with trackers, guides and porters to trek the gorilla. Once the gorilla group is located you will be allowed an hour to stay with the gorillas before breaking off for lunch in the forest. You will be given a certificate as a reminder of this unique and incredible experience.
Today you will be transferred to Kihihi airstrip for your morning schedule flight at 09:45 hours to Entebbe. Upon arrival at 11:25 hours you will be met by a representative and assisted in connecting your onward flight (book any flight after 1300 hours).
