Day 1: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

The safari begins in Maun where your guide will meet you at 07.30 at your lodge. You will travel 160km to a private reserve on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Upon arrival you will set up camp and have a safari briefing.

Please note: As the safari starts at 07.30 on Day 1, you will need to pre-night in Maun and purchase drinks for your safari the day before your safari starts. Indigo Safaris can assist with pre-safari arrangements such as accommodation and transfers.

Day 2: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Along with your small group, you will explore the area through game drives and a nature walk with a San tracker, learning about their unique and intriguing culture. Game drives will allow you to explore the area, home to a fascinating variety of desert specialised wildlife such as oryx, springbok and eland as well as predators including lion, brown hyena and cheetah. Savour the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty. This is true adventure camping, with limited water and communication and we will move as a self-sufficient group.

Days 3 - 5: Central Kalahari Game Reserve

You will wake up as the sun rises and head toward the pristine wilderness of the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next three days will be spent exploring the undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve with shared morning and afternoon game drives. Camping is in a private designated campsite with bush ablutions.

Day 6: Xhumaga

On your last morning in the Kalahari, you will leave and enjoy a slow drive to the Makgadikgadi area. Your afternoon game drive will take you along the edge of the seasonal Boteti River, a source of water for the animals that inhabit Makgadikgadi National Park while your evening will be spent in comfortable chalets at the Boteti River Camp, a rustic lodge found on the edge of the park, overlooking the Boteti River in Khumaga village.

Day 7: Moremi Game Reserve

You will begin your adventure with a hearty breakfast, then you will make a stop in Maun for essential drink supplies. As you reach the Gomoti River, local polers will welcome you with their mekoro (traditional dugout canoes) to guide you through the mesmerising Okavango Delta. Quietly cruising along river channels and floodplains, you will enjoy the spectacular landscape of this unique region taking you deep inside the Delta.

Transfer time: ~5 hours.

NOTE: You will leave your main luggage in the trailer and will need to pack a smaller bag (small backpack, hand luggage) with what you need for the 2 nights on the island. Transfers from the mainland to the island where you will stay are done on dugout canoes (mekoro) which cannot accommodate large bags. Your main luggage will safely remain in the vehicle that will be parked in a secured area while you are on the island.

Days 8 - 9: Moremi Game Reserve

You will spend two days exploring this beautiful area with mokoro excursions and guided nature walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango, camping wild with bush ablutions on a small island for two nights and one night on the edge of a lagoon. 

On the third afternoon, you will have the option to enjoy a 45min flight in a helicopter with the doors off, allowing magnificent views from above. Rate on request and TBA by your agent. This experience must be booked prior to arrival, and payment made in USD cash only (transfers not included, extra charges apply). During the flight it is even possible to spot large game animals such as Elephant, Giraffe and Hippopotami.

Days 10 - 12: Moremi Game Reserve

You will embark on a journey to the Moremi Game Reserve, renowned for its rich wildlife and birdlife. Over three days, you will explore this stunning reserve from two different campsites, with game drives scheduled for the early morning and late afternoon. You will camp at private sites, enjoying the rustic charm of bush ablutions.

Day 13: Savuti - Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park, with its diverse and striking landscapes, will be your next destination.  As you continue your search for wildlife, you will traverse the drier region of Savuti where bull elephants dot the plains. The Savuti region is known for its dynamic ecosystem, which can undergo significant changes over time. The presence of waterholes, dry river channels, and marshes can attract a diverse range of animals, making each game drive a thrilling and unpredictable adventure. Camping will be in private designated areas with bush ablutions.

Activities and Services

Days 14 - 15: Chobe River Front

Next, journey north to the Chobe River, where your game drives will wind along the riverbanks, accompanied by the calls of the majestic African Fish Eagle. The Chobe River Floodplain is an incredible area for game viewing, where water attracts large herds of buffalo, elephants, zebras, and other herbivores. With an abundance of prey, predators are likely to be nearby. The sunsets in this region are often breathtaking, providing fantastic photographic opportunities. You'll be camping in private designated campsites, each equipped with ensuite bush ablutions in the tents.

Transfer time: ~5-6 hours.

Day 16: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Following a brief morning game drive, your guide will escort you to the Kazungula border, where you will meet your transfer vehicle to your lodge in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (Visa required). You will spend the night at a comfortable lodge. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to witness the thundering Victoria Falls and shop for
souvenirs. Lunch and dinner will be at your own expense.

Day 17: End of Itinerary

The safari officially ends after breakfast on Day 17, at the lodge.

We are happy to arrange post-tour accommodation, activities and transfers to Victoria Falls airport or lodges or Kasane, Botswana, at an additional cost. Activities in Victoria Falls include white water rafting down the Zambezi Gorge, canoeing on the upper Zambezi and Helicopter Flights over Victoria Falls. Please ask your guide for further details.
