Golden Sun Golf - Golf experience in South Africa

Departure in Helsinki for destination Cape Town, South Africa.

Arrival at the Cape Town International Airport.

After collecting the luggage and border formalities, we meet David, our local English speaking guide in the arrivals hall.

He will guide us to the air-conditioned coach for departure to the Blouberg Beach where we have lunch. Don't say lunch but 'braai' (in South Africa the word barbecue is a big no no!).

Blouberg Beach is Cape Town's longest beach, stretching as far as 28 km and during a clear day offering a 'postcard' view over the iconic Table Mountain, Cape Town City and the 3.5 km out of the coast world famous Robben Island where Nelson Mandela used to be imprisoned. 

Check-in at the hotel after lunch and some time to freshen up.

Tonight we enjoy dinner in the heart of the V&A Waterfront (walking distance from the hotel).

Return to the hotel after dinner.

We enjoy today a day excursion around the Cape Peninsula, famous for its natural wonders!

Lunch is included (seafood).

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Today we enjoy the city and weather permitting a visit to the top of the iconic Table Mountain!

We are getting a taste of typical Cape Malay Cuisine in the Cape Malay Quarter. The Cape Malay Cuisine found its roots during slavery when people were brought to the Cape from Batavia, what is today Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. As these people were enslaved by the Dutch East Indian Company, the ingredients for their home cuisine were not always available and within time they adapted the recipes which is today known as the Cape Malay Cuisine.

After the city visit we drive to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.

Return to the hotel to freshen up.

At 18h15 we are expected at the Gold Restaurant, not for just a dinner but an African feast including a very special welcome drink, a djembe (African drum) session and traditional dancing and singing!

Return to the hotel after dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and departure for the Garden Route (+/- 435 km - 05h00).

Check-in a the hotel is from 14h00. 

At 13h50 we play our first round of golf at the Montagu Golf Course!

The driving range is available for guests for practice, free of charge (arrangements to be made on the spot).

Lunch will be enjoyed at the Safari Ostrich Show Farm including a guided visit to the farm.

We drive with a 4x4 up the beautiful and spectacular mountain pass.

A packed/picnic lunch is included.

11h45: drive to George (+/- 87 km - 01h30) for a round of golf at 13h30 at the Kingswood Golf Estate.

After golf, departure for Knysna.

Check-in at the lodge followed by dinner (included).

Overnight in Knysna.

Breakfast at the lodge.

Enjoy the amazing viewpoints over the lagoon. During a short walk you will be able (please put proper walking shoes on) to walk to the head at the entrance of the lagoon! Some time at leisure to stroll around in the Knysna Waterfront.

Departure for George where we are expected at 12h16 - 12h32 for a round of golf at the George Golf Club.

Water and trail snack packet  (R30 pp) is available at reception with each golfer's R90 halfway house voucher. Each golfer can decide what they would like to enjoy to the value of R90.

Return to Knysna and freshen up at the lodge followed by dinner (included).

Overnight in Knysna.

Breakfast at the lodge, check-out and departure for De Hoop (meaning the 'Hope') Nature Reserve  +/- 320 km - 04h00).

With a bit of luck and depending on the 'mood' and the weather, we might spot one of the remaining Southern Right Whales before they return to Antarctica. 

Lunch at the lodge is included.

Two excursions are on offer:

16h30/17h00 Guided Nature Drive for 18 pax.

16h30/17h00 Eco Boat Cruise for 10 Pax

This will happen at the same time and we will not be able to rotate the activities as the Boat cruise can only accommodate 10 guests as well as we are unable to run the boat for 3 consecutive trips

Overnight at the Hoop Nature Reserve.

Breakfast at the lodge, check-out and departure via the 4 Passes Route to Franschhoek (+/- 320 km - 04h00).

Prior to the picnic lunch at Boschendal and weather permitting, wine tasting at the wine estate.

Thereafter a visit to the Huguenot Monument.

The remainder of the afternoon historical visit to Franschhoek.

Departure for Stellenbosch.

Check-in at the hotel, time to freshen up followed by dinner (included).

Overnight in Stellenbosch.

Breakfast at the lodge.

Enjoy a full day Cape Winelands excursion.

Historical walk with your guide in Stellenbosch.

Two premium wine tasting and cellar visits are included.

Lunch at a wine estate is included.

We end the day with a visit to the Language Monument. During a clear day we might even spot Table Mountain in the distance!

Return to the lodge for dinner.

Overnight in Stellenbosch.

Breakfast at the lodge.

Depending on the availability of the wine maker, a guided cellar tour at the Ernie Els Winery.

Lunch at the wine estate is included.

At around 15h00 we arrive at the Cape Town International Airport for our return flight home.

Arrival back in Helsinki.
