Day 1: Nairobi

September 11

Welcome to Kenya!

Upon our arrival into Nairobi, we will be met by our local Civilized Adventures Kenya representative who will transfer us to our hotel for the next two nights.

Day 2: Nairobi

September 12

Today we will have a full day exploring Nairobi - our first experience is an opportunity to get up close with elephants at The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.  

Next we will visit with giraffes at the non-profit Giraffe Centre, then tour through the Karen Blixen Museum.  This was once the home of author Karen Blixen, made famous by the autobiography and subsequent movie, "Out of Africa".

This evening please join us for your Welcome Dinner hosted by Denell & Elizabeth from Civilized Adventures Kenya.

Days 3 - 4: Amboseli National Park

September 13

Today we will fly from Nairobi to Amboseli airstrip where we will be met by our guide from Tortilis Camp.  The camp is situated in a prime location under the shadow of the famous Mt Kilimanjaro and overlooking its own private conservancy (Kitirua Wildlife Conservancy).

This afternoon you will have your first game drive. The National Park & Conservancy area is known for its large herds of elephants and numerous bird species. It truly is a photographers dream!

Days 5 - 7: Lewa Conservancy

September 15

This morning we will fly from Amboseli to Lewa Conservancy.

Set on top of the hill with extensive views of the conservancy and Mt. Kenya, is Lewa House.  After lunch is our first game drive in the protected conservancy.  This area has over 105 endangered black rhino & over 99 white rhino; it also boasts the world's largest population of the endangered Grevy zebra.

September 16

This morning the group will have the opportunity to visit the Conservancy Headquarters where they have cutting edge Rhino conservation programs in place.  We will also learn about their outstanding work with anti poaching sniffer dogs.  

In the afternoon, a game drive before your Sundowner overlooking Mt Kenya in the background.

September 17

Our last day in Lewa Conservancy is your chance to experience any of the unique activities this camp has to offer.  This could be another game drive, a village visit, or perhaps a visit to the Ngare Ndare forest.  If you haven't had a chance to experience a night game drive yet, now is your chance!

Day 8: Arusha

September 18

Today we will leave Lewa House and Kenya and fly to Tanzania. This is a travel day. 

After proceeding through customs, we will be transferred to our hotel for the night before continuing our safari journey tomorrow.

Day 9: Northern Serengeti

September 19

This morning  we will fly  from Arusha to the Northern Serengeti in Tanzania.

Our home for the next 4 nights is Nyasi Migrational Camp. Operating as a seasonal camp within the Serengeti, Nyasi is set up in two locations during different times of the year, moving with the Great Migration.  We will be joining them in the North where we will see the drama of nature unfold as huge herds move across Africa’s grandest landscapes.

We will arrive in time for the afternoon game drive which will leave you in awe at the sheer volume of wildlife.

Days 10 - 12: Northern Serengeti

September 20-22

Over the next 3 days, we will enjoy a truly unique experience as thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles begin to make their way South for the upcoming breeding and calving season. While millions of hoofbeats drum the earth, hungry lions and crocodiles strategically wait to take down their next meal.

Time goes quickly here so be sure to take advantage of the early morning and late afternoon game drives, spend some time bird-watching from camp, and have a delicious picnic lunch in the bush.

Hot-air ballooning  in the area is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we highly recommend!  You won't want to miss it. (Pre-booking is required).

Day 13: End of Itinerary

September 23

Today, our guides take us on our final game drive enroute to the airstrip for our flight back to Kilimanjaro. and to connect to for our flights home or maybe you will decide to continue on with your adventure!
