Jaguar Expedition Porto Jofre

Upon arrival at Cuiabá Airport, you will be greeted by our local host and escorted to a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. From here, the adventure begins as we set off towards the Pantanal wetlands, traveling through the town of Poconé before entering the famous Transpantaneira road.

This scenic route stretches for 145 km and offers a true immersion into the Pantanal’s unique ecosystem. Along the way, you will cross wooden bridges and traverse vast landscapes of lagoons, fields, and gallery forests. It is not unusual to spot wildlife even during the transfer: capybaras, caimans, marsh deer, and a great variety of birds may appear along the roadside, providing a taste of the extraordinary biodiversity that awaits.

After approximately 245 km (around 4h30 drive), you will reach the Porto Jofre region, renowned as one of the best areas in the world for observing jaguars in their natural habitat. Check-in at your selected lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. In the evening, a delicious dinner will be served at the inn, followed by overnight accommodation.

Early in the morning, embark on a full-day excursion dedicated to observing jaguars in their natural habitat. Aboard a boat, you will navigate the winding river channels of the Porto Jofre region—one of the most biodiverse areas of the Pantanal and internationally renowned as the premier destination for encountering these magnificent predators in the wild.

Guided by a local expert, you will keep watch not only for jaguars but also for the extraordinary wildlife that shares their ecosystem: giant river otters, capybaras, caimans, howler monkeys, and an impressive array of bird species. A stop for lunch will be arranged before continuing your adventure on the river.

In the late afternoon, return to the lodge. Dinner will be served, followed by overnight accommodation.

After breakfast at the lodge, check out and begin your return journey along the Transpantaneira road, once again crossing wooden bridges and passing through the vast landscapes of the Pantanal. Keep an eye out for the wildlife that may appear along the way, offering a last glimpse of this unique ecosystem.
