2026 - 12 Day Tanzania & Zanzibar (Affordable)

Begin your Tanzanian adventure with arrival in Arusha, the gateway to the country's renowned northern safari circuit. After clearing customs at the airport, you'll be transferred to the African View Lodge, a comfortable base nestled in lush surroundings with views of Mount Meru. Spend the afternoon at leisure, perhaps exploring the lodge's gardens or taking an optional short walk to acclimate to the East African vibe. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring local flavors.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of about 2-3 hours through rural landscapes. Known for its massive baobab trees and large elephant herds, Tarangire offers excellent year-round game viewing, with resident wildlife including lions, giraffes, and diverse birdlife along the Tarangire River. Embark on an afternoon game drive to spot herds gathering at waterholes, followed by sundowners amid the acacia-dotted plains.

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to Lake Manyara National Park, roughly a 1-2 hour drive. This compact park features a soda lake teeming with flamingos and hippos, groundwater forests home to tree-climbing lions, and open savannas with buffalo and zebras. A full-day game drive allows time to explore the diverse habitats, with picnic lunch in the bush. Keep an eye out for over 400 bird species and playful baboon troops. In the late afternoon, arrive at Mawe Mawe Lodge, offering serene views over the rift valley escarpment.

After breakfast, head to the iconic Serengeti National Park, a 3-4 hour drive ascending the rift valley. The Serengeti’s vast grasslands support an abundance of wildlife year-round, including big cats like lions and cheetahs, elephants, and resident herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Depending on the time of year, you might witness calving seasons or river crossings, but the park's resident predators and plains game ensure thrilling sightings anytime. Enjoy an en-route game drive, arriving at Sound of Silence Lodge.

Dedicate the full day to immersing in the Serengeti’s endless horizons. Start with an early morning game drive to catch predators on the hunt and herds grazing at dawn. The park's year-round appeal lies in its stable populations of leopards, hyenas, and birds of prey, with opportunities for hot-air balloon safaris (optional) for aerial views of the landscape. Return to the lodge for lunch, then venture out again in the afternoon for more wildlife encounters amid the kopjes (rocky outcrops) and acacia woodlands.

Continue your Serengeti exploration with flexible game drives tailored to recent sightings. Year-round, the central and southern regions offer reliable views of resident animals, from playful elephant calves to stealthy servals. Opt for a full-day drive with picnic lunch to venture deeper into the plains, or split the day with lodge relaxation time. After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area (4–6 hours).  In the afternoon, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy a game drive. This is one of the wonders of the World. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater —this UNESCO site is a natural caldera packed with over 25,000 animals, including black rhinos, elephants, lions, and flamingos on the soda lake.  It is formed by a huge caldera of an ancient volcano and forms a naturally protected area for the wildlife that lives there.

This morning, after breakfast, travel to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar in the late afternoon. Upon landing at Zanzibar International, you will be transferred to your hotel. 

Full day at leisure. Swim in the warm turquoise waters, stroll the powdery sands, or relax by the pool. Jambiani is great for kitesurfing if you're adventurous—optional lessons available locally.

Another relaxed beach day. Consider a half-day spice tour (Zanzibar is the "Spice Isle"), snorkeling at nearby Mnemba Atoll for coral reefs and fish, or a cultural village walk. Sunset cocktails at the hotel are a perfect end to the day.

Free day for beach time or an optional trip to historic Stone Town (~1-hour drive north)—explore the UNESCO-listed alleys, spice markets, Freddie Mercury's birthplace, and vibrant Swahili culture.
