COVID-19: ACTIVITIES & SERVICES

Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town on flight as booked by you.

This afternoon at 15h00 a rental car will be delivered to the guesthouse. Bidvest may call the guesthouse to request credit card details from you to hold against the extras.

The rental cost includes the contract fee and refuelling levy (not the actual cost of the fuel).

There is no GPS included.

Directions will be provided to back up your own GPS.

Day 2: Cape Town

At 08h00 - 08h30 this morning your mountain guide will meet you at the guesthouse to take you on the morning hike up Devil's Peak.

You will be back in time to have a quick shower and freshen up ahead of the afternoon city tour.

At 13h30 you will be collected you at the guesthouse. You will have a private guide and vehicle at your disposal until 17h30. We have included some ideas for today.

Day 3: Cape Town

This morning you will be collected for a private tour with Uthando visiting at least three of the interesting projects that Uthando is involved in.

You will be back in time to freshen up and then the sidecars from Cape Sidecars will be there to collect you! There may not be time for lunch before you go and I suggest that you arrange with the guesthouse to organise a light lunch for you, or you can ask the sidecar drivers to stop somewhere for a take away so that you do not lose valuable time at a restaurant!

Day 4: Cape Town

Today is free to explore the peninsular in your own vehicle. I have included some suggestions that might appeal to you..

Day 5: Hermanus

Drive to Hermanus in your own time. Directions have been provided and as you have time, we definitely suggest the scenic route along the coast from Gordon's Bay along the coast as there is a good chance that you will spot whales en route.

Day 6: Hermanus

Have a lazy morning and then make your way to the Whale Shack to be there at 11h30 ahead of the 12h00 whale watching trip with Southern Right Charters.

Day 7: Franschhoek

Travel to Boschendal today, heading up towards Theewaters Dam and then coming in from the Franschhoek Pass side. This is a pretty drive and offers a really gorgeous view of the village of Franschhoek.

At about 16h30 today your mountain bikes will be delivered to the cottage. There will be a deposit held against the bikes using your credit card.

Day 8: Franschhoek

At 09h15 you will be met and transferred to the yard to depart on your private winelands riding trip. Lunch and wine tasting are included. You will be dropped off back at the cottage after lunch.

The afternoon is at your leisure.

Have today free to explore the area in your own vehicle and on the bikes.

We have included some information on the area that may appeal to you. There really is a lot to see and do!

Days 10 - 12: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Drive back to the airport and drop off the car by 08h30 in time to check in for your flight to Nelspruit (KMIA) on SA 8663.

Please allow at least 1h30 to get to the airport and double check the traffic report on the day as traffic in Cape Town can be heavy.

On arrival in Nelspruit collect another Bidvest rental car and drive to Dulini.

You will be required to settle gate fees on entering Shaw's Gate. please have cash ready. You will need ZAR 250.00 for the vehicle and ZAR 110.00 per person.

Conservation fees at Dulini are included These are separate from the gate fees.

Days 13 - 15: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

After a last game drive and breakfast, check out and drive out the Shaw's Gate back to Hazyview and then north on the R40 to get to Tanda Tula.

This drive will take about 3-4 hours and will take you through several rural villages.

Again, you will need cash for the gate fee, for the car (ZAR 140.00) but the conservation fees are included. There may be other small charges, so we do suggest having about ZAR 400.00 in total with you as the entry fees are in a state of flux at the moment.

Tanda Tula is a great combination with the Sabi Sands. You will see wonderful wildlife across these two reserves and it is always nice to have a tented option in Africa - it definitely adds to the experience!

Day 16: Hoedspruit

Leave the lodge after a last game drive and breakfast and drive to Blyde River Canyon Lodge. You may want to spend some time exploring the area en route.

Sun Catchers, the ballooning company, will leave a message at the lodge to confirm the flight, currently booked for the 18th.. They will also confirm the time of the transfer, which will be VERY early!

Day 17: Hoedspruit

If the flight cannot take place today due to poor weather conditions, then we have the last morning as a back-up day.

You will have the remainder of the day to relax or explore further.

Day 18: Gauteng

Explore part of the Panorama Route as you travel to Pretoria. There is quite a lot to see and do en route and I have included some ideas.

You will be doing guided tour of Pretoria tomorrow, but it will still be more viable for you keep the car.

Jansen House Guesthouse is located in the pretty and historic village of irene, offering easy access to the city for the tour tomorrow as well as equally easy access to the road leading to the airport.

Day 19: Gauteng

Today you will be collected at the guesthouse at 09h00 and you will be back at about 16h30.

Bottled water is provided in the vehicle but all other drinks and lunch will be for your account.

The tour will include the Vootrekker Monument, Paul Kruger House or Melrose House, Church Square, the city and the Union Buildings. Entrance fees are included for these places.

Day 20: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Drive to the airport and drop the car off by 08h30 to comfortably check in for your flight to Victoria Falls at 10h50.

On arrival in Zimbabwe please purchase KAZA Univisas at US$ 50.00 per person. These will allow you multiple entry into Zimbabwe and Zambia and are much more cost effective. Please have US$ cash with you as no cards are accepted for visas.

Exit into the Arrivals Hall where you will be met and transferrd to Batonka Guesthouse.

You will have a little time to settle in and then at 15h15 you will be collected and taken to the river for your sunset cruise. Please remember to take something warm and also insect repellent cream /spray as well as sunblock!

Day 21: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

At about 07h00 this morning (time will be reconfirmed to you at the lodge) you will be collected and taken down to the river for a morning of canoeing.

At about 16h00 this afternoon you will be collected and taken to the helicopter departure point for your 13 minute flip over the Falls. You will be able to see where you will walk to on the tour and also where you will be going on Livingstone Island.

Day 22: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

This morning you will be met at 08h00 and taken on a private guided walking tour of the Falls This will take about 3 hours.

You will have some time to relax before the high tea on Livingstone Island and you might want to pop down to the Lookout restaurant for a snack and to see what other adrenaline activities people are doing.

At 14h15 you will be collected from the lodge and taken across the border into Zambia. Please have your passports with you and the children's birth certificates just in case they ask.

There will be a guided tour of the Island with high tea and the opportunity to go for a swim in the Devil's Pool.

Days 23 - 29: The Waterberg Biosphere

Have the morning at leisure and at 10h50 you will be met and transferred back to the airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg.

On arrival you will be met and transferred to Horizon to spend the next week there.

Day 30: End of Itinerary

Transfer back to the airport to check in for your flight home.
