Days 1 - 2: Moremi Game Reserve

Upon arrival at Maun Airport around noon, you will receive a warm Botswana welcome before meeting your pilot for a breathtaking scenic flight over the Okavango Delta and Chief’s Island, offering a bird’s-eye view of this remarkable ecosystem. Landing at a remote bush airstrip within Moremi Game Reserve, your guide will greet you and transfer you to your mobile camp with a game drive en route, giving you your first glimpse of the diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, friendly staff will help you settle in, and you’ll enjoy afternoon tea before unwinding by the campfire as the sun sets, followed by a starlit dinner. Spending the first two nights in the Xakanaxa or Third Bridge area, you will explore the stunning landscapes of Moremi Game Reserve—home to a vast array of wildlife—on thrilling game drives through its protected 5,000 km² (1,930 square miles) of pristine wilderness.

Days 3 - 5: Khwai

After an early breakfast, we break down camp and set off on our journey toward the Khwai region, traversing diverse and wildlife-rich landscapes. Along the way, we stop for a bush picnic lunch, allowing time to relax and take in the natural beauty of the surroundings. The Khwai River serves as a vital lifeline for the region, marking the boundary between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Community Area, where wildlife roams freely across protected and communal lands. For the next three nights, we settle into our campsite in this remarkable area, known for its high density of wildlife and stunning scenery. Game drives through the Khwai floodplains offer incredible opportunities to spot elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, and African wild dogs, as well as a variety of antelope species and vibrant birdlife. A highlight of your stay is a serene 2½-hour mokoro excursion, where you will glide through the tranquil waterways and hidden lagoons of the delta in a traditional dug-out canoe. This peaceful journey provides a unique perspective of the delta’s aquatic ecosystem, allowing you to observe hippos, crocodiles, and a dazzling array of waterbirds while immersing yourself in the quiet beauty of this pristine wilderness.

Day 8: End of Itinerary

After breakfast and a final short game drive, your guide will take you to a bush airstrip for a scenic light aircraft flight over the Okavango Delta and Chief’s Island, offering breathtaking aerial views of this unique ecosystem. You will arrive in Maun around noon, perfectly timed for onward flights to Johannesburg.
