After the wonderful experience at Remhoogte and if time allows you will visit the working farm of Babylonstoren.
Set within 3,5 hectares (8 acres) of cultivated fruit and vegetables, the big garden at Babylonstoren is at the heart of the farm. It was inspired by the historic Company’s Garden in Cape Town, which supplied sailing ships of the Dutch East India Company with fresh vegetables and fruit during the days when the Cape was a halfway station between Europe and Asia. But we also link back to the mythological hanging gardens of Babylon. Those were thought to have been created by Nebuchadnezzar in the sixth century BC, for his wife who longed for the mountains and valleys of her youth. This is where we stop for a delicious lunch (not included in package price). After a delicious and leisurely lunch, we continue onto the the picturesque town of Franschhoek; established in 1688 by French Huguenot refugees, this is one of the oldest towns in the Winelands, with many of the settlers naming their farms after the areas in France from which they came, La Motte, La Provence, Cabriere and La Terra de Luc are all still prominent farms and wine estates in the region today. We explore this historic and beautiful little town on foot and visit some of the quaint shops, galleries and more on offer.
In the late afternoon you will be transferred to your hotel for the evening.
You will have an early morning start, armed with a breakfast pack you will be collected from your hotel before sunrise, and head towards the small coastal town of Kleinbaai, and meet for a safety briefing at the Great White House.
Great White Shark Diving on the Slashfin, is a combination of goosebump thrills, education and relaxation on a luxury boat in the company of experienced experts and researchers! They will show you how to distinguish between a male and female shark and how to identify a specific shark by its unique dorsal fin and scars. The 20 - 25 minute boat trip to where the activity is to take place, is by itself an exhilarating adventure.
Named after a legendary 3,3 m male shark with a very distinctive dorsal fin, the Slashfin is a unique, multi-million rand aluminium boat custom designed for speed, stability, safety and space and can comfortably accommodate 40 passengers and the crew at a time.
The trip out to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, and where you will anchor depends on where the sharks are active. Normally you will anchor for around 2 hours, but this varies depending on the number of divers and weather conditions.
