Day 1: The West Coast

Departure in the morning from your Cape Town hotel. You will travel north to Clanwilliam which is surrounded by the unique character and beauty of the Cederberg Mountains. The Cederberg is the only place on earth where the Rooibos plant (Aspalathus linearis) is naturally found. Renowned the world over, rooibos (Afrikaans for Red Bush) tea has many health-beneficial properties which you will learn about during your visit to the Tea House. At lunch, you can even choose a rooibos infused meal. You then drive the coastal route to Langebaan and spend the rest of the day at leisure surrounded by the clear waters of the lagoon, sailboats, and kite-surfers. It won’t be long before you are wound down to West Coast time.

Day 2: The West Coast

After breakfast all roads lead to Paternoster, with a stop at the Cape Columbine Lighthouse in the Columbine Nature Reserve to take in the incredible views over the Britannia reef and the Atlantic. You will then take your time to explore the quiet town of Paternoster - one of the oldest fishing villages in the country, famous for its architecture and pristine white beaches. If you book long enough in advance to secure one of the 40 tables at Wolfgat Restaurant, you could enjoy lunch in the recently named World’s Best Restaurant for 2019. You will then be taken on a guided tour of the West Coast Fossil Park leaving time to spare for a relaxed afternoon back in Langebaan.

Day 3: Cape Winelands

Today you are introduced to Khoisan culture and history at the ! Khwa Ttu San Culture and Education Centre during an hour-long tour offered by descendants of the first indigenous people of Southern Africa. You continue to the quiet town of Darling, where a stroll around the town is only disturbed to refresh one’s thirst with a wine tasting at the Ormonde Cellars before heading to Blouberg for lunch. End the day in Franschhoek and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: Cape Winelands

After breakfast, you will pick the routes/lines you wish to travel in the open-sided double-decker tram and tram-bus in order to explore the Franschhoek Valley which contains South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. The tram and tram-bus have a series of stops at wine estates allowing the traveller to enjoy wine tastings, pairings and cellar tours – some of which can be pre-booked as you wish. Your dinner is at the award-winning estate of Grand Provence where you will be indulged with a food and wine pairing.
