After clearing the entry formalities for Zambia you will be met in the arrivals hall and then taken to the departure area for your flight to Kafue National Park. On arrival you will be met by your guides and your safari starts with a short game drive into camp. This camp is beautifully located overlooking a lagoon fed by the Kafue River which is a haven for animals and birds alike so there is always something to look at any time of day. In the area you have a wonderful selection of wildlife to see and in good number as well which includes, Sable, Waterbuck, Puku, Hippos, Elephants, Bush buck, Bush Pigs, Warthogs, Impala, Lichensteins Hartebeest, Zebra and the list goes on with many other smaller mammales and you should include all your big predators like Lions, Leopards, Wild Dogs and Hyena in your list of expectations.
This camp is set right on the Southern edges of the vast Busanga Flood Plains which are the head waters for the Lufupa River one of the Kafue Rivers major tributaries. This whole area floods during the rain season from November through into April and then as the water recedes it leaves behind vast lush grasslands that become a focus point for the grazing mammals in this area that include - big herds of Lechwe, Sable, Roan, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Puku and with the grazing animals comes the predators like Lion, Hyena and Leopard and also a great place to look for Cheetah who enjoy these wide open grasslands. The birding here is also excellent with nice flocks of Grey Crowned Cranes, Great White Pelicans and many of your grassland birds like the larks, pipits and long claws.
It is a beautiful place that is so very different from the areas further South and has very few camps which will enhance your Kafue safari experience tremendously.
A nice drive all the way down towards the more Central parts of the Kafue where the environments change along the river as it starts pushing through rocky outcrops, creating a very different world from what you have seen previously.
Here at Kaingu you will be able to focus much more on the river with kayaking and boat cruises all part of the usual day here - a great place to look for Otters which do very well here among the rocks.
Your transfers today will be timed to suit your International Departures.
