Day 7: Southern Pantanal

Morning pick up to take you with a private transfer to Pantanal Jungle Lodge. Arrival after more than 3 hours ride.  During the 3 nights / 4 days stay, apart from having 9 meals included (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)  you will have the following activities that will be organized by the lodge:

Tours in Panatanal Lodge: The tour selection are subject to weather conditions and availability. The alternatives are:

1. Piranha fishing
Take part in this local tradition and enjoy a cultural experience with a twist. The activity may attract caimans and scavenging birds looking for food, offering another opportunity to observe wildlife up close.

2. Boat ride at sunset.
Join this traditional activity and enjoy a cultural experience that also brings you closer to nature. As piranhas are caught, caimans and scavenging birds are often drawn to the area, offering great opportunities for wildlife observation.

3. River Safari .
Cruising along the Pantanal’s rivers gives you the chance to spot caimans, capybaras, giant otters, and a wide variety of aquatic birds. These boat tours also increase your chances of seeing jaguars resting along the shores.

4. Floating in the river
Pantanal’s aquatic life. Snorkeling here adds a splash of adrenaline to the experience.
Floating in the Miranda River is a unique and curious adventure. At first, diving into the same waters where piranhas are caught might seem risky, but rest assured: these sharp-toothed fish stay close to the riverbanks, and the floating activity takes place far from them.
A motorboat will take you upriver to the starting point of the dive. Jumping into the refreshing water is a thrill in itself, and with the help of a foam float, you’ll drift peacefully with the current of the Mirante River all the way back to the lodge.
It’s about 40 minutes of surrendering to nature, enjoying every moment, and taking in the incredible scenery of the Pantanal from a truly unique perspective.

5. Land Safari of the Pantanal of Nhecolândia
Aboard open 4x4 vehicles, you’ll travel off-road paths to get up close to the local wildlife. During daytime safaris, it’s common to spot caimans, capybaras, peccaries, anteaters, iguanas, snakes, deer, otters, howler monkeys, toucans, macaws, and parakeets. With a bit of luck, you might even see jaguars or ocelots.
Night safaris offer the chance to encounter nocturnal animals such as ocelots, tapirs, foxes, and various species of owls.

6. Ecological walk in the rainforest and the fields.
Exploring the diverse ecosystems of the Pantanal on foot allows you to encounter coatis, armadillos, howler and capuchin monkeys, and a variety of endemic birds. These walks offer a more intimate connection with the region’s flora and fauna.

7. Canoeing or Kayaking

Glide through the channels and small waterways in open canoes, discovering the Pantanal from a completely different perspective. Explore the landscape just a few centimeters above the water, silently passing by unsuspecting wildlife that appears discreetly along the way — attentiveness is key. You may spot a wide variety of birds, caimans, otters, and other animals that live along the riverbanks or come to the area to feed and rest.

During the canoeing excursion at Pantanal Jungle Lodge, you will experience wildlife from a unique and immersive point of view.

Canoeing can be scheduled at any time of the day, upon prior arrangement with our staff.

8. Horseriding:

Horseback rides at Pantanal Jungle Lodge are true safaris, offering an authentic experience of the daily life of the Pantanal cowboys (pantaneiros).

Riding on horseback is an exciting way to explore the stunning landscapes and observe wildlife up close, with full immersion in nature. No previous riding experience is required — the horses are gentle, well trained, and accustomed to both the routes and riders of all levels.

During the ride, it is possible to follow trails and reach areas inaccessible to vehicles, crossing open fields and flooded landscapes. Along the way, many surprises may appear: from blooming ipĂŞ trees adding vibrant colors to the scenery, to encounters with impressive animals such as buffalo, which remain undisturbed by the presence of horses.
