Day 1: Lewa Conservancy

Day 1 | Lewa Wilderness

• Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a Saruni Basecamp vehicle will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your morning flight to Lewa Downs.

• Land at Lewa just one hour after departing Nairobi. You’ll be met on arrival and transferred to Lewa Wilderness, enjoying an initial game drive en route. Depending on your arrival time, your lodge experience will either begin with lunch followed by an afternoon spent discovering the wonders of Lewa Conservancy, or sundowners at the lodge followed by a candlelit dinner.

Day 2: Lewa Conservancy

Day 2 | Lewa Wilderness

• Lewa Wilderness offers many different activities designed to let you explore and experience various aspects of life in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. These include everything from conventional game drives to horse riding and camel safaris, as well as guided bush walks with knowledgeable local guides with a flair for storytelling.

• Meals might be served in the lodge, with tables positioned to take advantage of the scenic views, or picnic-style, al fresco in the heart of the Lewa Conservancy.

• As well as activities that bring you closer to the amazing wildlife of the Lewa Conservancy, you can benefit from an exclusive ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour of some of the innovative programmes that are preserving and conserving this precious ecosystem.

• For unmatched views of Lewa and the full ‘Out of Africa’ experience, book a scenic flight in the Waco biplane (payable extra). Alternatively, you can add a dash of Hollywood to your safari with a memorable scenic flight in the ‘Out of Africa’ Waco biplane (payable extra)

Day 4: Kalama Conservancy

Day 4 | Saruni Samburu

• After breakfast, you’ll depart Lewa Wilderness for a two-hour drive which will bring you into the spectacular terrain of Samburu. Accompany your Samburu guide straight to the lodge or opt to take your first look at the area on an introductory game drive.

• Take in more of the 200,000-acre Kalama Conservancy on an afternoon game drive in a pristine wilderness area that offers both unusual wildlife and breath-taking views. Partake in a scenic sundowner to bookend your day.

Day 5: Kalama Conservancy

Day 5 | Saruni Samburu

• Enjoy close encounters of the herd kind as you spend a morning in the Samburu National Reserve, a noted elephant haven and also home to the endemic ‘Samburu Special Five’. Take a break from safari to enjoy a riverside picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon.

• Enjoy a complimentary half hour massage at the Samburu Wellbeing Space, and feel your stress melt away.

Day 6: Kalama Conservancy

• Continue to explore the wonders of Samburu with a morning game drive, followed by lunch at the lodge and an afternoon guided bush walk to caves that contain ancient Samburu rock art.

• Take the time to get to know the Kalama Conservancy in a different mood on an evening game drive, ending at a secret spot in a dry riverbed where you’ll find a firelit bush dinner waiting for you.

• In addition to a delicious meal, you can enjoy the rare spectacle of Samburu warriors performing traditional songs and dances.

Day 7: Mara North Conservancy

Day 7 | Saruni Mara / Saruni Wild

• Depart Samburu on your morning* flight to the Masai Mara (90 minutes). Begin to get to know a new region of Kenya with a game drive and picnic lunch by the river, or first head to Saruni Mara or Saruni Wild for some rest and a longer game drive later in the afternoon.

• Explore the exclusive Mara North Conservancy – over 30,000 acres of plentiful, protected land bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve. It’s less well-known than its famous neighbour, but just as prolific in terms of wildlife sightings.

Day 8: Mara North Conservancy

Day 8 | Saruni Mara / Saruni Wild

• Embark on an early morning game drive in search of the big cats and other iconic predators of the Mara, returning to the camp after a thrilling morning for lunch and treatments at the Maasai Wellbeing Space.

• In the afternoon, your guide will focus on the animals and birds you most want to see, before dinner at the lodge or camp followed by an optional night game drive to discover the world of the Mara by night.

Day 9: Mara North Conservancy

Day 9 | Saruni Mara / Saruni Wild

• Walk through the valleys and plains surrounding Saruni Mara, accompanied by your local Maasai guide, or take a game drive up to the top of Kilileoni, the highest mountain in the Serengeti Masai Mara ecosystem.

• In the afternoon, discover more of the Mara North Conservancy and neighbouring protected areas and experience first-hand what makes the Mara one of the most exciting wilderness destinations in the world.

• Weather permitting, enjoy a bush dinner under the vast African sky, with Maasai warriors singing and dancing around the fire.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

Day 10 | Departure

• Breakfast in camp, before a last opportunity to visit the rhino sanctuary on the way to the airstrip for your 11:00 return flight to Nairobi from the Mara.

• Saruni Basecamp transfer* to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with the option of dinner at either Talisman or Carnivore. Bookings will be dependent on your flight times, with dinner for your own account.
