Quito Six Senses
Meet your private guide for your full day tour. Enjoy and emmerse yourself in the 6 senses tour of Quito.
Santa Clara Market We begin with a visit to Santa Clara Market, a place where you can immerse yourself in local culture through flavors—similar to a food tour. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious juice and explore the various sections of the market: flowers, vegetables, handmade baskets, ceramics, and more. You’ll also have the opportunity to experience a traditional “limpia” (energy cleansing) with a local healer. Approximate duration: 2 hours
La Basílica Church Next, we’ll head to La Basílica, the largest neo-Gothic church in Latin America. You'll be amazed by its stunning architecture and breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Visit duration: 1 hour
La Ronda Neighborhood We then visit the traditional La Ronda neighborhood, once home to poets, musicians, and writers during colonial times. Here we’ll explore:
● Metal Workshop – Learn about pre-Columbian metalwork, practiced over 11,000 years ago. Each guest will create their own piece of art with the help of a local artist.
● Leather or Inlay Workshop – Discover the techniques used to craft traditional "bargueños" (note: the artisan may not always be present).
● Casa de la Negra Mala / "Murcielagario" – A colonial-era house full of history, where we’ll enjoy a cooking class. Together with Vicky, the restaurant’s owner, you’ll prepare traditional Quito-style empanadas ("empanadas de morocho"), accompanied by naranjilla juice and delicious coffee.
Street of the Seven Crosses Continuing through this historic street, we’ll visit the Church of La Compañía de Jesús, also known as the “Golden Church,” to learn more about Quito’s history and architecture.
We’ll then walk to San Francisco Church, the oldest in Quito. Nearby, in one of the colonial houses around the plaza, we’ll have a dark chocolate tasting experience, which includes chocolate paired with wine or water, a cup of hot chocolate, and a brownie.
Plaza Grande We visit San Gregorio Magno, Quito’s first university—now home to the National Library. At Plaza Grande, inside the Archbishop's Palace, we’ll hear traditional Quito legends, such as that of Father Almeida. While here, we’ll taste local sweets like mistelas, caca de perro, maní, and dulce de leche.
Optional Stop On the way back, we can stop at a traditional bakery to taste Quito-style bread and coffee.
