Day notes
Your safari starts deep in the Kalahari - a vast area of sand covered by scrub land and grass that supports an incredible array and density of creatures. It is at this time of year that it all comes to life to take advantage of the rain and in my opinion the best time to see the beauty of the Kalahari. We will also be privileged here to be able to spend time walking through this bush with San Bushmen who will show you how they have survived here for thousands of years by utilizing plants and hunting techniques that are incredible to watch.

The Makgadikgadi Pans are an incredible story of geology and weather over millennia that have created these vast salt pans. Today they briefly hold water during the rain season and can attract vast flocks of Flamingoes and along the edges of the pans the revived grasslands attract herds of Zebra that move out of the wetter areas of Botswana further North - Another big highlight here is being able to spend time with a habituated family of meerkats as they go about their day foraging and oblivious to your presence.
Other dry country adapted species that you could see here would be Brown Hyena, Aardwolf, Cheetah, Lion, Southern Giraffe , Springbok, Bat Eared Fox and Red Hartebeest.

Next on the safari is to go into the famous Okavango Delta. Here we will be in a private concession area on the Southern side of the Delta. This very complex and important ecosystem is a fascinating place to explore which we will be able to do by doing both day and night game drives, boat cruises on the various channels and lagoons of the Delta or have an extraordinary insight into life under the water by using one of the glass bottomed mekoros to go through the shallows and see a whole new aspect to life in the Delta.
This is an excellent game viewing area in general so you would expect to see all the big animals like Elephants, Buffalo, Hippo, Greater Kudu, Waterbuck, Red Lechwe, Zebra, Warthogs, Impala, Southern Giraffe and with these come the big predators as well, like Lions, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, and African Wild Dogs.
