Days 1 - 3: Benguerra Island

Depart Johannesburg or Kruger Mpumpalanga Airport to Vilanculos on scheduled flight arriving in time to meet your helicopter lift to Benguerra Island and one of the resorts on the island. 

During your stay, immerse yourself in the turquoise coastline with kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, a round of beach volleyball or tennis, snorkeling, scuba diving, dhow rides or with a fishing line. Of course, snorkeling is a favorite pastime for many of our guests who enjoy peering into the beautiful Bazaruto Archipelago teeming with marine life. Ready for an adventure on a grander scale? Get behind a boat on a pair of water skis or on an inner tube for an afternoon of adrenalin-fueled fun for the whole family. Kite surfing, horseback riding, and scuba diving are also available. 

 

Days 4 - 6: Ponta Mamoli

After breakfast depart by helicopter to Vilanculos and meet your scheduled flight this afternoon to Maputo.  On arrival proceed to the White Pearl Resorts Airport kiosk where you will be met for private transfer to White Pearl Resorts.  The journey takes about 1 1/2 hours over the new Katembe Bridge and road. (Optional helicopter lift is available to enjoy a scenic flight over remote dunes, bush and beautiful coastal scenery).

Enjoy a snorkeling trip to a nearby reef and while you explore our crew will be on the lookout for pods of silvery, glistening Bottlenose Dolphins which regularly glide through these waters.  From July to November each year, the majestic Humpback whales visit us on their annual migration. Join us as we set sail in search of these beautiful creatures and observe them in their natural habitat. Whale watching is conducted from the comfort of our snorkeling boat as we observe the whales blowing, breaching, lob tailing and playing. In the later part of the season, we may be lucky enough to encounter the newborns as they learn to breach and play.

Days 7 - 8: Maputo

Enjoy a last day here on the beaches of the Indian Ocean before departure for your 90 minute transfer to Maputo, Mozambique's unique colorful capital. known as Lourenço Marques before independence, is the capital and largest city of Mozambique. It is known as the City of Acacias, in reference to acacia trees commonly found along its avenues, and the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Today, it is a port city on the Indian Ocean, with its economy centered on the harbor.

Over the next day you'll have an opportunity to take a walking, 3 wheel taxi or cycling tour of the city, exploring the bustling market with vendors selling fresh fruits, fish, spices and much more, visit the Old colonial rail station with its beautiful architecture and make a stop along the promenade and harbor. 

Days 9 - 11: Lake Malawi

An early departure for the airport, the scheduled TAM flight departs at 6:10AM to Lichinga Airport.   Meet your guide for a 4×4 transfer from Lichinga to Cobue,  a small village on the lake were the road ends. The drive, which takes 4 hours, is one of Africa’s most scenic drives, taking in the Rift Valley escarpment and the coastline of Lake Malawi. Nkwichi’s boat will be waiting on the lake shore for transfer to the lodge. 

Nkwichi is a complete experience offering a unique taste of Africa with exquisite lakeside scenery and unparalleled tranquility. The lake's fresh water is crystal clear and contains a greater variety of indigenous fish species of than any other lake in the world. It has been carefully designed to provide comfort and privacy for guests and the highest levels of service in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

Whether you are feeling lazy or ready for adventure, there is a plethora of activities available, such as canoeing, snorkeling, fishing, night cruises and other water activities, cultural experience with the local villages, and hikes along the coast, to the 2,000-year-old Baobab, or through the pristine woodlands.

Meals are also not to be missed. With delicious fish served fresh from the lake and a variety of vegetables, salads and fruit from our organic farm, natural, sumptuous meals are freshly prepared each day by our team of trained, local chefs. Tantalize your palate at a number of exquisite settings of your choice, from picnicking on pure-white beaches to dining under the starry night-sky.

Day 12: End of Itinerary

Depart by boat to Likoma Island, Malawi today. (Visa required for entry). On arrival transfer to the airport for your lite aircraft flight to Lilongwe. 

International flights depart from here or continue your journey into Safari Country.
